Alexander Senki, also known as "Reign the Conqueror" is an interesting mixture of science-fiction and historical epic, doing a rather unusual retelling of the life of Alexander the Great as if it was a surreal series similar in style to Æon Flux.
I do like a lot its unusual aesthetic, where the designs by Peter Chung manage to be simultaneosly stylish and grotesque.
Narratively speaking, I must say the series is a bit uneven, having a very strong beginning on its first episodes, but a somewhat disappointing conclusion, with the plot being ultimately solved in a rather anticlimatic manner. In many ways, it almost feel as the ending of a season instead of a definitive conclusion. (Though considering this was adapted from a series of novels, maybe the source material expands the plot in a more satifying way)
Still, a pretty fascinating ride, showing once again how 90s anime used to be more experimental and creative both from a visual and narrative standpoint.
