Worth watching!!!
shailu_nonstop3 November 2009
Having watched a few movies, I was a fan of Sanjeev Kumar's(Haribhai) performance. I wanted to give a try to this movie with an anticipation that will be a time-pass murder mystery. The movie wasn't a mystery. It was a story of a man for whom his world was his wife. He even loses his eyesight on the pretext of saving her life. But what does he get in return? Taking advantage of his blindness, his wife stages an illicit affair with his own friend. A friend who claims to be his best friend. Love-grieved by her unfaithfulness, back-stabbed by his friend and with physical disability, it could have been easy for him to continue what has been going on. But he decides to teach both of them a lesson. How he does that forms rest of the plot. Till this point the movie is good. From here on the movie turns out excellent. This movie is underrated and did not get the applause it deserved. A superb performance by late Haribhai, as a blind man plotting a task which would seem impossible for a blind person. He was a gem of an actor and had he been alive for few more years, we could have seen more of his good performances. Alas. The story is well written and well executed. Rest of the cast(Sarika, Ranjeeta and Marc Zuber) have justified their characters. The movie lacks in technicality. The picturization and presentation were not to the mark where the story was. This could be due to low budget. Overall, this movie is not worth missing for Haribhai's fans. If you are not his fan, after watching the movie you surely will be.

Slick thriller with a twist in the end

Warning: Spoilers
Sanjeev Kumar plays Rakesh ,a Stage superstar helps Sarika to become a good and successful actress..He also has a Producer friend in the stage played by Marc Zuber, a lusty playboy who believes in casting couch. During drama performance, Sanjeev saves his wife's certain accidental death and in turn severely injured and loses his eyesight. Being blind man he completely trusts his wife to be faithful and discreet , and even hires a Nurse( Ranjeeta) and slowly learns to do things by himself including walk outside on his own etc..But to his shock he learns that his wife and his friend are two timing him and are having a brazen affair exploiting his blindness... Some of the scenes are very sexy and may be the Movie deserved a 'A' Certificate..Be careful with whom you watch this one... Sanjeev is heartbroken and plans an elaborate vengeance to take his unfaithful wife's life. And the story is taut and screenplay good...All the leading actors creditably perform..Music is so-so..Good for a lazy rainy afternoon...

Underrated 80s thriller
nadkarnisumeet12 September 2020
Qatl review :

Sometimes good films flop commercially but attain cult status later. For example, Mera Naam Joker and Andaaz Apna Apna. Sadly, Qatl didnt even attain that but it remains a highly underrated thriller which deserves a watch.

Starring Sanjeev Kumar, Sarika, Mark Zuber and Shatrughan Sinha, Qatl explores the repercussions of adultery and its punishment.

Sarika is having an extramarital affair with Mark Zuber in front of her blind husband Sanjeev Kumar who trusts her completely. One day, he comes to know the truth and decides to kill his wife for cheating him. But how can a blind person do it??

RK Nayyars direction was competent and the film keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout. There is one song picturised on Ashok Kumar in a fakir garb "Kisika dil jo todegaa khuda kya ussko chodegaa" and it is effectively used at various crucial points in the movie.

Of the cast, Sanjeev Kumar was extraordinary as the blind avenger. This is one of his last films just before his death. Sarika looks gorgeous and pitches in a competent act. Mark Zuber is okay. Shatrughan Sinha surprises us in a comic role.

I am not sure if this film was released in theatres extensively or not. I had seen it in early 90s on VHS.

I strongly recommend Qatl to those who havent watched it yet. It is freely available on YouTube.

Regards, Sumeet Nadkarni.

Decent thriller, Worth watching
vivek-2035518 July 2019
Qatl is one of the underrated movies of Sanjiv Kumar and is probably one of his last movies. Story of vengeance of a blind man ( Real blind man) on his wife. 2nd half is a one of the best in Hindi film Suspense and Thrill Genre. Watch it for performance of Sanjiv Kumar, Shatrughan Sinha is irritating as police officer. Other stand out performances are of Ranjita and Marc Zuber.

Good thriller though could be better

Warning: Spoilers
After Sanjeev Kumar's death, few of his films released QATL is one of them, it released in 1986 after his death. The film however isn't incomplete as such thankfully It has him share screenspace with Sarika, Marc Zuber,Ranjeeta and Shatrughan Sinha. The film is a murder mystery of a blind man who catches his wife in adultery and seeks revenge. The film is well handled by RK Nayyar, though at times there are some nonsense scenes like Shatru's forced comedy inspector track and also at times the film does get formulaic(like 80s films)

Direction is good Music is decent

Sanjeev Kumar acts superbly, sadly he passed away before it's release, his dubbing was done by Sudesh Bhosle who did a good job at it Sarika is good, Marc Zuber is okay, Ranjeeta Kaur is good, Shatrughan Sinha handles his funny cop character well though it distracts rest are okay
