Shot in a South London cemetery!
deborahespiers27 May 2004
"Host" is an ambitious short film that was shot around the Bellenden area of Peckham in south London and at the famous Nunhead cemetery with its crumbling angelic statues. Gorgeous looking guys in various states of dress and undress and a complex love triangle are the trademark of this young director who's next project is a feature film, "While England sleeps" from the David Leavit novel of the same title. "Host" is set in the Second World War, and is extremely evocative and beautifully filmed with an imaginative music track that avoids all the clichés of the period. It really deserves a TV screening so that it reaches an audience beyond the limited festival circuit. The film is well cast and intelligently uses limited resources to pack an emotional punch.
