It hasn't been smooth sailing for the 24 film adaptation, but if the show taught us anything, it's that you can never count Jack Bauer out. Kiefer Sutherland was doing the rounds on morning talk shows to promote his new play The Winning Season and he mentioned on both Good Morning America and Live with Regis and Kelly that he is still very interested in filming a big screen adaptation of 24.
On Regis and Kelly, Sutherland said: "People come up to me and say they love the show. It's funny, because I don't feel like we finished. It's still such a presence in my life. There will (be a movie). We will hopefully start next January, and Tony Scott is one of the directors who has expressed great interest in doing it. I think he would be fantastic. I am really excited to do that."...

It may not sound like work, because I’m lucky enough to combine business and pleasure, but I lecture on Princess Cruises. For a year-end trip through the Panama Canal I was asked to introduce four of my favorite unsung films of 2010, and I was happy to do so. City Island was by far the audience favorite—people thanked me for days after the screening—but Mother and Child was also well received, along with Flipped and The Winning Season. Seasoned film-buff passengers also fared quite well with my session of movie trivia, scoring 17 out of a possible 20. No movie…...

So far I've collected six separate 2010 compilation videos looking back at the this year's collection of films. To the best of my knowledge, these six videos include clips from 303 films and together they total 34:34. I have included the complete list of films on the second page if you are interested. Let me know if I'm missing any, but I think it's pretty safe to say if you liked a film in 2010 one of these following videos will feature it.
So, have a watch and leave your thoughts on which one is your favorite in the comments below and if you find another one online that I should add to the collection shoot me an email.

If you were trapped under a rock this year (it happens) take six minutes to watch this YouTube short. Half music video, half trailer remix, “Filmography 2010″ cuts together the year’s hits, flops and everything in between to catchy music.
Even if you’re a jaded movie buff who hates year end schmaltz, the recap should pluck your heartstrings. So many great and touching moments this year, it’s enough to make you wonder how the Golden Globes managed to totally blow their nominations.
But we digress. Check out the video after the jump.
How many films do you recognize? Below is full list of the films in the order that they appear. Enjoy!

Every December these ‘best of the year’ video montages make the last 12 months of cinema seem infinitely more pleasant to sit through than they actually were. Here’s the first of many that are sure to be made before the sand in the hourglass runs out on 2010, this one from a gal going by the name of Gen I, who sent in this effort to /film.
There’s 270 movies in this montage below ranging from all the well known blockbusters, to smaller docs, foreign fare and even some Japanese anime! I can’t begin to imagine how long or how much skill it takes to put something as high-quality as this together…

Now that we're about two weeks till the end of 2010, the film industry will be looking back to figure out the best movies of the year and will pick winners during the many awards shows. Today, we have a video that captures 2010 pretty well by showing scenes from the year's 270 films, including some that have yet to hit theaters. There will likely be plenty more of these montages in the next few weeks, but the video is definitely one of the better ones that I have seen. Check out the six-minute video below, in addition to a full list of all the films that were used. Questions: How many of the films listed did you actually see in full? It's getting closer and closer to the end of the year, and we've already seen a couple top 10 lists and critic choice awards announced. Since we began posting "best of the year" video montages a few years back, it seems a lot of new wannabe video editors have emerged. Maybe the software has become cheaper or more accessible, or maybe the coverage on sites like /Film and other movie blogs garnered interest in the task. Last year I received a dozen or so best of videos, most of them were not anything we would share on the site. I think we posted three in total last year, two of which were created by video editors we've featured in previous years [1]. Today I was sent the first "best of 2010" video montage of the season, from a video editor named Gen I. I'll admit that while I was expecting the worst, I came out pleasantly surprised.

This Week in DVD & Blu-ray is a column that compiles all the latest info regarding new DVD and Blu-ray releases, sales, and exclusive deals from stores including Target, Best Buy and Fry’s. The Disappearance Of Alice Creed The Disappearance of Alice Creed opens with two men prepping for what we can only assume—given the title of the film (despite any revelations about its meaning that may come later)—is a kidnapping. We assume correctly. They pull a girl into a van, tie her to a bed, strip her of all her clothes, snap photos of her, and put new clothes on her. All of this takes places without any dialogue, or any understanding of who these people are, how they know each other, or what their motivations are. The less you know about what happens from that point forward, the better. This is the sort of assured, smartly...

Eat Pray Love: "Unctuous. That's the only way I can describe Eat, Pray, Love. Unctuous. Characterized by affected, exaggerated, or insincere earnestness. I didn't buy it. I didn't read the source material, so I can't speak to the book. But this Elizabeth Gilbert -- the one in the movie -- I don't see how anyone can relate to that character. Putting aside the white privilege that Courtney ranted to eloquently about yesterday, there's also the notion that anyone could buy into this fortune cookie bullshit. Gilbert is a shallow, self-indulgent, and arrogant woman. This person is not going on a journey of self-discovery, whatever the fuck that is. This person is abandoning her life. Instead of confronting her problems, instead of working through them, or processing whatever it is that makes her so inexplicably unhappy, she abandons them. And she abandons a husband who -- at least as he's...

The Thin Red Line (Criterion Collection) I just reviewed this release and there really isn't much more to say. Fans of this film need to pick this up without question. Add it to your shopping cart right now. King Kong (1933) I just finished watching the Blu-ray edition of Kong and it looks great, but people that don't like a lot of grain with their old school black-and-white classics will have issue with a few sequences in this new Blu-ray, most notably those taking place in the fog. The American The American has drawn a split among critics and I bet there will be few that enjoyed it as much as I did, but that's why we like movies right? Where some people will get confused is if they go in looking for something like a Jason Bourne style thriller, this is not that kind of assassin movie and in all honesty such comparisons shouldn't even be made as they will only confuse an audience that goes to see this one.
However, I won't urge you to see this one, but if you are on the fence take what I've said into consideration, watch the trailer below and read my review and a couple of the comments there from people that already saw the movie. It should get you all sorted out.

At Sundance in 2005, I fell in love with a little movie called Lonesome Jim, which was directed by Steve Buscemi and starred Casey Affleck. The film wasn’t necessarily incredible, but the screenplay by newcomer James C Strouse really connected with me, even though my life is nothing similar to anything shown in the film itself. I connected to the authenticity behind the characters and the story. I told one of my friends at the time that Strouse was going to be a screenwriter in demand five years down the line.
Strouse decided to direct his next screenplay effort, 2007’s Grace is Gone, which was a Sundance hit, and a record breaking sale at the time. I really loved the film but felt that it was a bit too melodramatic. Not necessarily the screenplay, but some of the performances were a bit over the top. The fact...

Sam Rockwell: isn't he a big deal already? It seems like everyone's spent the last two years writing about how he's going to be a big star, and with Choke on the horizon, maybe it will finally be his chance. But for now he's sticking with the indie movies that have made his name; he's signed on to The Winning Season, a movie that sounds less like an indie comedy than a completely typical high school movie. Even the title should tell you everything you need to know. As described by The Hollywood Reporter, Rockwell plays a down-on-his-luck basketball coach who has a shot at redemption--no, that's really part of the description-- when he's asked to coach the high school girl's basketball team. Emma Roberts, formerly known as Nancy Drew, will be one of the players, and Rob Corddry plays the principal-- how much do you want to bet...

Sam Rockwell had sex with and then murdered Julia Roberts in Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. Now he'll play dad to Julia's niece, Emma, in The Winning Season.
According to Variety, the high school comedy about a washed-up basketball coach given one more shot by stalking the sidelines for his daughter's high school team is the new project from writer-director James Strouse (Grace is Gone). Former Daily Show correspondent Rob Corddry will play the high school principal.
This kind of smacks of a Bad News Bears retread, although because of Sam Rockwell, I'm more than willing to give it a shot. He can be seen later this month in the Chuck Palahniuk adaptation, Choke.

James C. Strouse is set to write and helm “The Winning Season,” an indie comedy starring Sam Rockwell, Emma Roberts and Rob Corddry, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film follows a divorced father who decides to get his life back on the right track by coaching the local high school basketball team.
Rockwell plays the coach, while Corddry steps in as the school’s principal. Roberts stars as one of the players.
Strouse made his debut as screenwriter with 2005’s “Lonesome Jim.” He most recently wrote and directed “Grace Is Gone,” with John Cusack starring in the lead.
Rockwell (pictured above) can next be seen in Clark Gregg’s “Choke,” which is based on a novel by Chuck Palahniuk. He also stars in Ron Howard’s upcoming “Frost/Nixon.”

Sex and the City co-star Kristin Davis is staying in bed with HBO. Davis, who is up for Emmy honors this year for her role as the idealistic Charlotte in the final season of HBO's Sex, has inked a seven-figure series development deal with the premium cable channel. HBO plans to field pitches from a range of writers for starring vehicles for Davis. The actress is said to be leaning toward a comedy project but is open to other concepts, sources said. Davis, who has spent the past six years on Sex, most recently toplined the TNT telefilm The Winning Season along with Matthew Modine. Her other TV credits include the Fox drama Melrose Place and the telefilms Three Days, Atomic Train and Take Me Home: The John Denver Story. Davis also is set to boost her profile -- and enter the realm of celebrity spokesperson -- through a sponsorship pact that calls for her to become the new face of Maybelline New York cosmetics. Davis is repped by Endeavor, Mosaic Media Group's Dave Fleming and attorney Jason Sloane.
