Although this film seems to be doing well in festivals and circuits at the moment, it is painfully unfunny for a comedy. I think I laughed once during the entire film. I was the only one of my friends who actually sat through the whole film and watched it because I felt I should give it a chance, but boy am I sorry to have lost 90 minutes.
Granted it is amateur/indie so I give it a little extra room for error, but the humor is almost entirely homophobic jokes, and misogyny (which can be hilarious, but the execution was poor and the characters laughed after these jokes like they were a built in laugh track as if they knew it wasn't funny and had to remind us "THIS IS A JOKE!"...reminds me of the also awful Cat In The Hat). The acting was awful all around (although I blame the bad writing/dialogue for this), and there was one particularly distracting aspect that kept occurring such as when Joe's character addressed the audience using a spotlight - very much like a play and not filmic, which could be OK if it served a purpose, but it just pointed attention to its amateurness. I've also worked as a bartender/waiter, and though the film made the situations seem TRUE, even if over the top, it wasn't funny and too filled with inside jokes. Some stuff was just plain dumb ("My name's Jack...and I'm black." That's the joke folks.)
Don't get me wrong, there were a few good things like the intro credits - very creative. Good use of music and the film looked clean and semi-professional. The women were also fairly attractive as well, but couldn't act. The one thing that maybe made me smile a little was the fish hook earrings during the oral sex scene, but I've seen it done before and much better too. I think the main problem is the regional/inside "comedy" which won't translate well, though I doubt few will bother to watch much more than 30 minutes in.
VERDICT: STAY AWAY
