Unraveling the Ice Princess Mystery The Ice Princess storyline has been a tantalizing enigma since its inception in the 1980s. It’s a tale woven with intrigue, featuring the world’s largest uncut diamond, which was stolen and harbored a formula for creating synthetic diamonds. “The Cassadines made their first appearance in the 1980s, when Mikkos Cassadine, the patriarch of the family, along with his brothers Victor and Tony, were involved in the Ice Princess storyline,” according to historical accounts of General Hospital. A spinoff could brilliantly dissect this plot further, uncovering layers we’ve yet to see and perhaps even revealing who...

On April 1, 1963, ABC‘s newest soap opera General Hospital debuted. Frank and Doris Hursley, famous soap opera writers created the series. The couple previously worked on the CBS drama Search for Tomorrow before breaking out on their own.
The premise of the ABC soap opera revolved around the characters at an Eastern city hospital. According to The List, the show’s original name was Emergency Hospital. However, the Hursleys later changed it to General Hospital because they thought it sounded better.

Hayden Panettiere will reprise her Scream 4 role of Kirby Reed for the next installment in the franchise from Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures. She’s set to star alongside Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding and Jenna Ortega, who toplined the recent reboot of the franchise from directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (aka Radio Silence).
The next Scream film will pick up with Sam (Barrera), Mindy (Brown), Chad (Gooding) and Tara (Ortega)—four survivors of the most recent batch of Ghostface killings—as they leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter. Panettiere’s Kirby, you might recall, is the former Woodsboro resident who was the lone teenage survivor of the Second Woodsboro Murders in the fourth Scream film. Principal photography on the sequel, also to be helmed by Radio Silence, will kick off this summer.

Fans who’ve been clamoring to see Hayden Panettiere return to the “Scream” franchise have gotten their wish.
Spyglass Media and Paramount Pictures announced Wednesday that Panettiere will appear in the upcoming sixth movie, reprising her role from 2011’s “Scream 4,” where she played Kirby Reed, a Woodsboro High School student and horror fanatic, who ultimately survived that movie’s Ghostface killer.
News of the fan-favorite character’s return comes after Spyglass and Paramount confirmed that four survivors from last year’s “Scream” would also return for the new movie. Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera star as sisters Tara and Sam Carpenter, respectively. Barrera’s character is revealed to be the biological daughter of Billy Loomis (the original “Scream” killer played by Skeet Ulrich). There will always be a little "he said, she said" about Ashley Tisdale's iconic fashion. Case in point? Although it's been more than 16 years since she graced the red-carpet premiere of the Disney flick, Ice Princess, Ashley's notable outfit for the occasion has continued to live on the form of memes—and overall chatter on the Internet—since her style at the time was peak 2000s-chic. Fast-forward to present day, and now Ashley herself is entering the chat with a little something to say about her attire. On Dec. 19, the High School Musical alum poked a little fun at the now-infamous picture in her latest TikTok, captioning the video, "When I...

“Bring it On Again”
The cheerleading sequel has graduated from high school drama to college campus drama. With an entirely new cast and plotline, the followup still maintains the cheer squad battles that made its predecessor so entertaining.

It looks like a conventional reality dating show: A gaggle of beautiful girls in ball gowns pull up in limousines — or, if they’re very lucky, a horse-drawn carriage straight outta Cinderella — to a decked-out mansion, ready to meet their "suitor," a dashing British hotel heir who resembles an Irl Prince Charming. (Imagine The Bachelor filtered through a Disney-on-Ice princess extravaganza.) The usual suspects are all there: the pretty one, the funny one, the bitchy one, the cheerleader. You can practically smell the champagne and Shalimar wafting off the screen.

Every week, a member of the Nashville cast will blog about the latest episode of the ABC hit. This week, Lennon Stella (Maddie Conrad), who is 15, and her younger sister Maisy, 10 (Daphne Conrad) take turns writing about the fourth episode and what it's like to be sisters on screen and off.
Lennon In Wednesday's episode, the whole parent thing kind of got pushed down to deeper hole. It was more like a joy parade. There wasn't a lot of rebellious drama. Maddie's figuring herself out. At the same time, there is a lot of family drama going on around her.

As per usual, Mariah Carey sounded amazing in not one, but two performances on NBC’s ‘Christmas at Rockefeller Center.’ Her Christmas album from 1994 is still one of the most listened to around the holidays, and we’re not surprised.
Mariah Carey looked better than ever in two different dresses on Dec. 4 when she hit the stage — both times. She opened and closed the show! She was definitely one of the biggest stars at the 81st Annual Tree Lighting. Christmas In Rockefeller Center was filled with amazing performances — and both of hers were incredible.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer has now been off our TV screens for a staggering 10 years, while Angel disappeared 9 years ago. In an attempt to keep the ‘Buffyverse’ fandom satisfied, supposedly canon continuations (in the form of comic books) have been printed for both shows and for various characters within the shows. But – for reasons we shall look in to further in this list – not everyone is content with this idea.
Now, I’m the first to admit that there are undoubtedly a number of reasons why bringing either show back to TV screens would be incredibly difficult and probably shouldn’t happen, but I’ve always been a ‘glass half-full’ kind of chap, so let’s blissfully ignore those reasons for the sake of our happy faces.
So, whether it’s for a full new season, a spin-off, or even a movie or one-off special, here are 10 reasons why the...

The Walt Disney Studios Analysis series is back for its final edition. Here we explore the types of films the banners under The Walt Disney Studios have been releasing over recent years, and my thoughts on these ”categories.” With that introduction out of the way, here we go.
Pixar Animation Studios productions
For sixteen years Disney has been distributing films from Pixar, the leader in quality entertainment for families. These movies have spanned the spectrum of storylines, from superheroes to robots and everything in between. Critical darlings (with Cars 2 proving to be the exception to the rule), these movies are global sensations. Toy Story 3 became the first animated film to cross the $1 billion mark worldwide. Pixar’s offerings are also extremely profitable outside the film format. Disney can leverage these properties in the merchandise and theme park arenas, as well as other mediums that provide exposure to these characters.

Good ol’ competition; it makes the free market worthwhile, am I right? Well, even the drug trade sees rivalry, that’s for sure, and Nancy may be getting out of prison on Showtime’s season 7 of Weeds, but she won’t be immune to competitors in her chosen enterprise. And yes, that statement alone insures fans than Nancy is showing no signs of reform, even after three years behind bars.

The Dark Knight Rises looks like it will be drawing in more girls -- three new actors have been cast and they are, well, So Hot.
Definitely in is The Social Network's Josh Pence (right, he's the model whose face was digitally removed and replaced by Armie Hammer to play the Winklevoss Twins): he'll play a young Ra's Al Ghul in a flashback (Liam Neeson is the older version). Daniel Sunjata (Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, "Grey's Anatomy," left) is in early talks for a "courageous special forces operative" and the role is rumored to be "an imporant character in the story."
Diego Klattenhoff (The Ice Princess, Mean Girls) has been offered the part of a rookie cop who wants to make a difference.
Also, Character actor (that's a nice way to say "not as good looking") Burn Gorman (Fred Claus, Penelope) has also been offered a supporting role which hasn't been disclosed.

We asked We Love Soaps TV friend Thom Racina, and headwriter of General Hospital from 1981-1983, to share with us his memories and recollections of writing for Elizabeth Taylor's most celebrated scenes as Helena Cassadine. We thank you Thom for generously taking the time to pay homage to this irreplaceable legend.
Honoring Elizabeth Taylor
By Thom Racina
It was her giggle I recall most. Elizabeth Taylor being completely disarming, sounding like a little girl (as she did in so many movies!), pulling the rug out from under you, making you believe she was just as human as you were (as Tony Geary said when he went up on a line, the first time facing her in a scene I wrote, "It's fucking Elizabeth Taylor!"), totally self-effacing, warm and generous, and wickedly funny. As you can see in the bloopers from General Hospital, she couldn't say her name. The part...

Cologne -- The Scandinavian crime wave continues at Tre Vanner, the Swedish production company behind drug-dealing thriller "Easy Money," which on Tuesday announced a wide-ranging film and TV deal with bestselling crime author Camilla Lackberg.
Lackberg and Tre Vanner will develop a 10 x 90 minute television series based on the characters in her crime novels. Lackberg will write original storylines for the series. Michael Hjorth of Tre Vanner will executive produce the series, with Helen Ahlsson on board as lead producer. The bleak Scandinavian landscapes have inspired a series of hit books about dour detectives, and more writers are now lining up to claim the Nordic crime crown
Among the growing band of the faithful – the millions of readers drawn to the bleak tradition of Swedish crime fiction – the litany can be recited with ease: Inspector Martin Beck, created by Sjöwall and Wahlöö in the 1960s, begat Henning Mankell's Wallander, and then Wallander begat Stieg Larsson's Salander, the girl with the dragon tattoo.
With new episodes of Kenneth Branagh's Wallander promised and big-screen versions of Larsson's Millennium Trilogy due out soon in English as well as Swedish, what started as a genre with cult appeal has become part of the money-making mainstream.
Yet well before Mankell and Larsson's crime-solving anti-heroes reached our cinema screens, true aficionados of this Scandinavian genre understood that the family tree was more complex.

Welcome back to another exciting edition of “10 Underrated Disney Films of the Past Decade,” where we explore some overlooked movies in the Disney library. Choosing only ten films from 2000-2009 was no easy task, but fortunately, Disney released many wonderful “new classics” during this period. Remember, in order for a film to qualify for this list, it needed to gross less than $100 million domestically. I chose this threshold, since $100 million was/is considered “blockbuster” status. Therefore, do not expect great entries, such as The Princess and the Frog, Freaky Friday (2003), and The Santa Clause 2 – all films I thoroughly enjoyed and showed some success in the box office, but nevertheless, exceeded $100 million in earnings.
Without any further ado, here are my picks for the #7 – #4 most underrated Disney films of the last decade.

This week! The Kids in the Hall, whether it's okay to out dead celebrities, and lots and lots of Ugly Bettys! Plus, the most pleasurable "guilty pleasure" of all!
Q: In your recent column on coming out, you didn’t address outing celebrities posthumously. How should this be handled: "don't speak ill of the dead" or "add another name to the pantheon of the fabulous"? – Hue-Man, Canada
A: I vote for “add another name to the pantheon of the fabulous.” Here’s why: There are two reasons why most media outlets (including AfterElton.com) are still at least somewhat sensitive to reporting that a closeted famous person is gay: (1) if the person hasn’t ever revealed it in an interview, it’s an indication that he or she thinks there would be career-repercussions and doesn’t want the world to know, and (2) we're not absolutely sure it’s true.

Having some of her songs featured on several Disney compilation CDs apparently is not enough for Hayden Panettiere. The "I Love You, Beth Cooper" actress, who has released a single titled "Wake Up Call" in 2008, recently opened up to Now Magazine that she aims to become a credible musician.
During an interview with the mag, the Claire Bennet of "Heroes" stated, "I'd like to focus on music." She further elaborated on the reason why, "I've been singing for almost as long as I've been acting and I love it. It's just a different way of expressing myself and getting to be me, not having to play anyone else."
The 20-year-old further unearthed that she's been working on her album "for about three years". On why the long process of the making of the album, she pointed out on her hectic schedule of shooting movie and TV projects. "It's all about finding the time,...

I said last week that I wouldn't be putting together a list of the worst movies of the aughts, because it's an impossible task. There were too many bad movies over the last ten years to consider -- those Movie Movie parodies could make up half the list, easily, leaving another 195 movies to vie for the other five spots. It wasn't just mainstream movies, either. Every dickbag with a credit card and a camcorder thought he could made a movie (thanks, Kevin Smith), and there were enough indie studios out there to push them out of their box-office wombs long enough for us to realize that their little Napoleon Dynamite fetuses should've been aborted in the first trimester. It's hard enough putting together a top ten worst films for one year -- doing it for a decade is near impossible, and in order to do it justice, wouldn't I need...

Can you imagine Michelle Trachtenberg being raised by Jason Lee? Yeah, me neither. But maybe that odd pairing will be perfect in A Couple of Dicks, Kevin Smith's new movie currently filming in New York. Trachtenberg has signed on, according to Variety, to play the daughter of Bruce Willis's character, who is being raised by her stepfather, good ol' Jason Lee. No one is explaining how either of these two fit into the complicated plot about two cops (Willis and Tracy Morgan) dealing with all kinds of craziness. But aren't you kind of looking forward anyway to Jason Lee and Kevin Smith standing around making their same old inappropriate jokes, and Michelle Trachtenberg-- a.k.a. Ice Princess-- somehow joining in on the fun? Ok, maybe it's just me.

The big-eyed, chestnut-haired cutie that is Michelle Trachtenberg has landed herself a starring role on the NBC pilot Mercy. The medical dram-com centers around a group of young nurses who, I’m sure, stand by each other through times of trouble, romance and hilarity.
With ER leaving the NBC building, Mercy might be the defibrillator the network will need to crush Grey’s Anatomy. There can never be too many hospital shows — nothing says fun like changing a bedpan and obligatory doctor-nurse sex: “We shouldn’t be doing this.” “Oh yes, we should!”
Of the three lead nurses, Michelle’s character will be playing the inexperienced “tragically unhip” role. It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to think of Trachtenberg as anything remotely “unhip” — even the stint she had on House as a heart-transplant patient who basically lives in a bubble, had a boyfriend and got...

Julia Roberts has yet to be surpassed. Back in September of last year I asked Who's the Next Big Male Movie Star? At the time Robert Pattinson Fever had spread all over the Internet and the conversation resulted in a wasted experiment as commenters weren't able to have a real debate. However, a few people did ask for a similar feature for the females and I have finally gotten around to putting it together. With the males the name I was looking at in comparison was Will "Guaranteed Box-Office Gold" Smith. With the females I was unable to come up with a name that lives up to the career Julia Roberts put together and she remained my muse. When Pretty Woman came out in 1990 Julia was 22-years-old and had just starred in and won a Golden Globe for Steel Magnolias. Over the following nine years she worked her way into...

DreamWorks' The Ring Two circled $35.1 million on its debut this weekend to nab the top spot at the boxoffice, a far cry from the $15 million opening of the first Ring film in 2002, according to Monday's final figures. But the original ended up with a nearly unheard of multiple of 8.6 -- the industry average being about 3 -- as it cruised to a final domestic tally of $129 million. The PG-13-rated Ring Two, starring Naomi Watts and David Dorfman and helmed by Hideo Nakata, who directed the original Japanese films Ringu and Ringu 2, fell shy of toppling the record for the biggest opening for a horror film. That record still safely belongs to Sony's The Grudge, also a remake of a Japanese horror film, with $39.1 million. Ring Two is the third-biggest opening ever in March. Fox's CG-animated Ice Age is tops ($46.3 million), with Fox's Robots ($36 million) the second biggest. Buena Vista's Ice Princess, starring Michelle Trachtenberg, was the only other wide release this weekend, with 2,501 playdates. The G-rated feature, aimed primarily at young female moviegoers and directed by Tim Fywell, didn't end up with the score that was hoped for as the romantic comedy/drama picked up a disappointing $6.8 million to place fourth.

After 20th Century Fox's Robots wowed the family audience last weekend, horror fans should move to the front of the line this weekend as DreamWorks unveils the sequel The Ring Two. At the same time, Buena Vista will make a bid for preteen girls with Walt Disney Pictures' Ice Princess. After Gore Verbinski (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl) directed the first U.S. version of The Ring, Japanese director Hideo Nakata, who scored big with the two Japanese versions in this series, Ringu and Ringu 2, will make his U.S. directorial debut with the English-language sequel. Reuniting Naomi Watts with her young co-star David Dorfman, who plays her son, Ring Two sees the two characters relocating only to discover another case of death by videotape, which forces Watts to return to investigating the evil behind the character of Samara Morgan. Sissy Spacek joins the cast, almost 30 years after her horror debut in the classic Carrie.

Sex And The City star Kim Cattrall is making a family film in Toronto, Canada, as "a valentine" to her young nieces and nephews. The actress, who turned down the chance to return as man-eater Samantha Jones in a Sex and the City movie, insists she wanted to do something different instead - and signed up to play an ice skating coach in new film Ice Princess. She says, "I'm spending the summer inside a skating rink, all bundled up from neck to toes, no man in sight. My niece and nephew are young and haven't been able to see my work in the past six years. This is a valentine to them."...

Kim Cattrall is heading to the rink, signing on to play a former ice skating phenom in the Walt Disney Co.'s Ice Princess. The project, directed by Tim Fywell, is Cattrall's first following her Golden Globe-winning run on HBO's Sex and the City. Cattrall is taking on a role that is quite the opposite of the sexy siren Samantha she played on Sex and the City by portraying an ice skating instructor who at one time had a chance to make the Olympics but now is helping Michelle Trachtenberg's character fulfill her skating dreams. Juliana Cannarozzo, Trevor Blumas and Hayden Panettiere round out the cast. Bridget Johnson is producing the project. Writers on the project include Hadley Davis and Leslie Dixon, the latter of whom penned the most recent version. Karen Glass and Kristin Burr are overseeing the project at the studio. Cattrall is repped by ICM and by attorney Kevin Yorn. Her feature credits include Crossroads and 15 Minutes, opposite Robert De Niro and Ed Burns. Nominated for four Emmys for her performance on Sex, Cattrall took home the Globe in 2003.
Newcomer Trevor Blumas is lacing up his ice skates to star opposite Michelle Trachtenberg in Ice Princess for the Walt Disney Co. Shooting is scheduled to begin next week with Tim Fywell at the helm. Ice Princess, described as Flashdance meets Bring It On, follows a brainy ugly duckling (Trachtenberg) who realizes her dream of becoming a champion figure skater with the help of a disgraced coach and the boy (Blumas) who drives the Zamboni ice resurfacing machine. Bridget Johnson is producing the project. Hadley Davis penned the most recent draft of the screenplay. At the studio, the project is being overseen by Karen Glass and Kristin Burr. Blumas appeared on the TV series Due South and Earth: Final Conflict. He is repped by the Gersh Agency and Miles Levy of James/Levy/Jacobson.
