A great Lupin III special
cjpdigi9015 June 2005
Like The Fuma Consipracy (I haven't seen that one), this special centers more around Lupin's samurai partner, Goemon. A Chinese mob boss challenges Lupin III and co. to retrieve a dragon figurine from the bottom of the ocean inside the Titanic. The fact that Arsene Lupin is enough of incentive for Lupin to go get it, but without the mob boss' backing. His adversaries include Chin Chin Chou (the mob boss), the ever persistent Inspector Zenigata, and even Goemon and his long lost childhood friend. There is plenty of action and humor which you come to expect from the franchise. Now for the dubbing: Sonny Strait does a good job as Lupin, despite the fact that it's pronounced "Loo-pin" (The appropriate pronunciation, "Lu-pahn", couldn't be used because of issues with Maurice Leblanc). Christopher Sabat supplies his typical gruff "Piccolo" voice as Jigen, perhaps the closest one to resemble the TMS dubbers. Everybody else does a good job. All in all, definitely a worthwhile outing from Lupin the 3rd.

A Lupin the 3rd movie with plenty of Goemon action.
emasterslake27 August 2005
This is the 1994 TV movie of Lupin the 3rd. This has to do with a Dragon Figurine that has a connection to Goemon's mighty sword.

While there's this Chinese Mob leader who looks more like an onion roll head who wants this Dragon Figurine for himself.

The animation is very well done. And this TV movie is another good Lupin Anime. Those who like Goemon will like this one.

Has some funny parts to it as well.

Inclduing the parts when Lupin escape from Zennigata.

I recommend 13 and older for this one. Only has one nudity scene.

But still worth buying for all you Lupin fans.

Stronger than the Almighty Sword?

I consider myself; a pretty big fan of Lupin III and I was excited for this movie. I like the English voice acting of Sonny Strait as Lupin, but don't care for the darker cell shaded animation of the late 90's Lupin movies. This is the one that fits in the window of having both the animation I love and the voice acting I love. The story is also more focused on Goemon, which is always a good choice. So, how does this one fare? It still maintains what we have come to love from the series, the humor, action and characters are all present. It is pretty good but falls short in some key moments.

First off, I think they break Goemon away from the group too early on, these characters have such a fun dynamic, it is a shame when one of them is absent. Goemon's conflict with the group does not feel in line with the characters, it felt a little contrived.

Second, one of the main heists takes place under water. That action set piece goes on for way too long, there isn't great suspense in it and it drags the whole story to a halt. Not helping with the movie's pacing is that it becomes a little repetitive with how often the main McGuffin is traded back and forth.

The main villain doesn't seem like he stands much of a chance against the team, there is little that makes him stand out as intimidating or memorable. Kikyou, the main newcomer girl is more impactful to the story than most of the female tag-alongs, and she is an interesting character.

With those negatives out of the way, it is still a solid Lupin adventure. The sets are creative, the heists are fun, and all the characters work well off of each other. It has a good balance of humor and action. We got to see a lot of Lupin, Goemon and Fujiko. We see A LOT of Fujiko.

Much like the heroes themselves, some good, some bad, but usually the good outweighs the bad.

Lupin iii film 14

Being this the 14th lupin film I watched it is pretty average. There's a bit of everything: action, music, funny scenes but nothing in particular is amazing. It's about the titanic treasure but it's very forgettable as a film. There's many scenes with Goemon, that's probably the highlight of the movie, with a cool twist at the end. There are better Lupin films, but this is ok.

one of the best of Lupine III movies

Warning: Spoilers
This film is another Lupine film which I gave the same higher rating then This film focuses as the others have already said on Ghemon in this film the villain is a Chinese mafia boss but this time his number reminds us very well that a small statue is called Chin Chin Chouof gold in the shape of a dragon is hidden inside the Titanic interior the same Titanic which is founded in the Atlantic many years ago i.e. 1912 and therefore our heroes must look for that statue in the meantime Ghemon is taking one thing To avoid But he is surrounded of the ninjas But he comessaved by Kikyou who she knew for a long time So what do I think of this film for me another good Lupine film this time a hidden thing is really found in something that really existed or the Titanic I liked it and thank goodness in This film doesn't have those momentsLupine is treated by a female And thank goodness he isn't in this film and this time the bad Chin Chin Chou was enough for me And I know that this person won't be one of the best bad guys but compared to those other bad bad guys, they're terrible But then twist there is also a Bad act that wasKikyou herself, in fact, she pretended to be interested in Ghemon because she was the one who said Chin Chin Chou the dragon was on the Titanic Because the Japanese who brought the dragon on the ship was her grandfather's father often wants to make a and thought she wants to use it to conquer theworld was truly mythical and Thank goodness that this film also managed to make me like it and in this it even entered my top of the best Lupine films really true to conclude with a rating of 9.
