It was okay, but

Warning: Spoilers
why did they shoot Alex at the end? She'd better not be dead- Walker would be devastated. She survived the gunshot at a wedding, she'd better survive this one. If there's another movie and she's not in it because she died, I won't watch it. I would have liked more of Jimmy in it. He and Walker had a great partnership. I was disappointed to see that not all of the cast would return. I knew their old friend wouldn't be in it since he died during the series, but it would have been nice to see Sydney and maybe Carlos. What about Jimmy's wife? He was engaged in the last show of the series-was she mentioned? I didn't like Janine Turner- She was fine in the lab, but she can't fight or act. And why did the writers have her tackle the Korenan guy when he had Gage down on the ground? She had her gun in her hand-she could have just shot him instead of almost getting drowned.

Overall the movie was OK, I'd like to see more
vzezzu19 October 2005
The beginning was slow and boring but the end scenes were great. I really loved the ending. It was sad not to see Jimmy stay in the entire show. The movie had lots of action. The person who was the fight choreographer did an excellent job. I liked the fight scenes much, much better than all of the other shows because this time they finally got their asses whipped and good. Usually Walker and his team usually fight their way out without the use of weapons. But this time, they all had to rely on bullets to put their opponents down for good. The ending left an opening for the series to come back. It would be okay for the series to come, taking into consideration everyone's age. Start the series again, I'm getting tired of all these reality shows.

so so

Warning: Spoilers
If you enjoyed watching Walker Texas Ranger the TV show, you will probably like this TV movie. It has enough action to keep Walker fans interested. Unfortunately, like most episodes of the show, the story does not survive much scrutiny. The main storyline about Koreans trying to find the kid and the device that used to guide missiles is okay. They did need a better child actor playing the kid though. He steals his father's work that should be private and then runs from the police. Of course, if this kid was not such an idiot, this would be a short show. The second storyline about a ranger being framed for murder just doesn't work. It tries to incorporate CSI type material that just doesn't fit Walker Texas Ranger. The show was about old fashioned police work and fighting, not about dull crime lab stuff. Worst of all, Clarence Gilyard, who plays Walker's partner, just has a brief cameo. Also missing is Nia Peeples as the Ranger who could swing into action. Janine Turner's inability to fight is all too apparent. Jaw dropping finale might infuriate fans of the show. 5/10

What's with the ending?
lyndakaye2219 October 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I thought the movie was OK, but where was Ranger Sydney Cook? I absolutely hated the ending. I can't believe it ended with Alex just lying there bleeding to death. She better not die if they decide to do another Walker film. That's going to make a lot of loyal Walker fans really upset. We love Alex and Walker together and we want Sydney and Cage together too. And Jimmy wasn't even in half the movie. It wasn't much of a reunion movie. The special effects weren't that great. I still can't believe that terrible ending. It's like killing Vaughn on Alias. Come on guys you have to do better than that for your loyal Walker fans.

The ending sucked!
nancydrew-116 October 2005
Warning: Spoilers
OK,this was an very good movie until the last ten seconds. I liked the way that they showed Walker's little girl. But they did not show enough of Ranger Trivett. That was strike one. Strike two was no show of the lady Ranger that used to be partners with the blonde Ranger. And a BIG strike three was they let Alex get killed in the end,or did they? And what-NO one ran over to her.Where was Walker THEN??!! I mean before he always was there for her. So what should have been a ten movie goes way down to a five. HISS and BOO to the producers for such a crazy twist. It seemed like a part one movie when she was laying there on the floor. And your thinking "What the h--l? Isn't THAT a DUMB ending?! If they would come back and make another movie and NOT let her be killed it would be OK.

Like watching the Superbowl

Warning: Spoilers
When my 21 year old son moved out of the house last month, I remembered fondly of the two of us singing the theme song to Walker together each week at the the beginning of each episode. We were such fanatics of the show that he even called me on the phone one night while I was out of town to remind me to watch Walker so that we could still watch it together. He even called me last night and asked me to record "Trial by Fire" so we could watch it together one night after work. Anyway, I loved the movie. It was typical of Chuck Norris movies but the special "Crouching Tiger" fight effects were refreshing. I also loved seeing Walker get knocked around a few times before blasting the bad guy with his gun. I love it when Walker finishes off a long fight with a full roundhouse kick. He is the best in martial arts with that kick! I wished they would have thrown in an old clip of "CD" somewhere for good measure. And Alex looked hotter than ever last night! Chuck Norris movies do have a lot of violence but they always promote good in the World and that supersedes the violence. I would be honored to meet Chuck Norris one day. It is a great hope of mine to shake his hand and thank him personally for bringing fond memories of me and my son sitting together in front of the TV and bonding. Keith

I love Walker

Warning: Spoilers
I liked the movie but my favorite character was not in it. Why was Sidney not there. Her and Gage seemed to be getting together. I hated the end I knew Alex was shot just by the look on her face. I saw that look every time she was shot. If they make another movie Alex better no be dead. It would kill Walker if she dies. I love Chuck Norris but Walker won't be the same without Alex. Walker needs her to help with raising Angla. And what about Trivetes wife. They should be married by now. Well I will love Walker ether way but it won't be as good. If they don't make anther movie I won't like that. i grew up watching the show. I still watch the old ones. I love Walker and Alex's relationship.

More like Power Rangers rather than Texas Rangers
joetaylor1316 October 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I am a big fan of Chuck Norris, as well as a fan of his show, Walker, Texas Ranger. This new movie has a lot of action, however, it certainly doesn't need the special effects. I believe these effects ruined the movie, and made it more like a Saturday morning kids action series. Also, Ranger Trivette is missing from this movie, even tho the IMDb list him in the cast credits. 3-D transparent graphics of Dallas; clouds moving in fast forward motion; bullets fired in stop motion animation; glass breaking in the same way, seems to be stop motion animation; GIVE ME A BREAK !!!! Then to top it off, the ending leaves us with a question..... Is Alex dead? How could they end this movie like this, when the one who shot her, is also dead? Where could it lead? Only one answer. She is dead. Or will there be a sequel? If so, I do hope they do not use CGI effects in it. Leave that for the kids.

Love the show except for the end
peggy_0303716 October 2005
This has a two great story lines and the only thing I can object to is the Koreans' stunts. They seemed UNREAL. Looks like this is either the total end of the shows or perhaps an attempt at a comeback. I sure hope it's the comeback because 1) you can't us wondering and 2) the story isn't done yet please! Walker is the same great man we've always known. I missed Tirvette, Alex is wonderful as usual and the Walker's little daughter is adorable. The boy whose father was murdered was an excellent character and he was certainly brave. The young boys were both good, believable actors. I just couldn't believe the Koreans. They were totally evil and their energy was unreal. They were impossible to contain. The one person I missed the most was CJ. He played such a part in the story. I did enjoy the show. It had all the old elements and the light touch of forensics was delightful. I like the fact that its story line wasn't just like all the other forensic shows. Walker, we really miss you.

the movie was kinda weird
texaskoon13 January 2007
Warning: Spoilers
The movie was a little weird , i mean after all that happened in the 9 seasons it was running. The movie began with a lot of lose ends and a lot of questions it never answers . The ending was even weirder but i guess after all that Alex and Walker had been trough it was time for a little more depression, trivitte mysterly disappears along with sydney and they don't explain why . Although i wish i knew , lol . They did keep to the original theme of the series , so that was a good thing and it was nice to see that walker kept the silver truck , the movie was modernized but it did it some good . All in all the movie wasn't a bad one , even worth a rent . Im still wondering when CBS may air it again though .

Fifteen years later and.....nothing
tarwaterthomas17 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Well, friends and neighbors, it's been fifteen years since WALKER, TEXAS RANGER: TRIAL BY FIRE had its premiere on CBS back in 2005. It held up rather well, except for the ending in which Cordell Walker's way better half Alexandra "Alex" Cahill-Walker is shot in the stomach in the middle of the rotunda at the Tarrant County Courthouse. Us viewers were left not knowing whether she was going to live or die. I kept waiting year after year for the sequel to be made, and nothing ever happened. And then Chuck Norris announced that he was getting sick and tired of being identified by his Cordell Walker character. Well, at least he gets to appear as pitchman for the Nordic Track exercise units. Inasmuch as the sequel is never going to be made (it's been fifteen years, after all), I am going to pretend that this TV movie takes place in an alternate universe in which Cordell Walker is captain in the Texas Rangers. Probably the only way to see this fractured flicker is on YouTube, because it certainly won't turn up on any cable or satellite channel. That's just how it is. My recommendation: watch it once and then forget it.

Chuck Norris is his usual bad ass self.
HarryLags31 October 2016
Walker, Texas Ranger ran for 203 episodes, from 1993 until 2001. Revolving around a tough Texas Ranger (Norris) who fights tireless to uphold the law and maintain the moral balance.

Chuck Norris is his usual bad ass self. He isn't as ruthless as usual, mostly because of his Captain job and his family life with Alex (they're married and have a daughter, Angela, played by Danilee Kelly Norris), but he's still Chuck Norris and he can still kick ass. Sheree J. Wilson isn't in the movie as much as you'd expect her to be. She has an easy back and forth with Norris and it's obvious that they're comfortable with one another.

Clarence Gilyard, who played Walker's partner James Trivette during the show's entire run, appears for a cameo only.I believe Gilyard's cameo is just a cameo because he had other commitments he couldn't get out of when the movie was made.

I'll skip everything else, you'll just have to watch it. Now, the ending. I don't want to give away any major spoilers here, but the movie ends on a major cliffhanger that, at least at the moment, has no chance of ever being resolved. It was probably thrilling when the movie originally aired, but after all these years it's just annoying. Why the hell didn't CBS do a sequel? Why leave the show's fans in limbo over what happened? Wouldn't a sequel pay for itself after rerun airings and DVD sales? I'm pretty sure Chuck Norris and Walker, Texas Ranger fans would want a sequel.

I have some issues with this, but Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial by Fire is a pretty good decent TV movie. Chuck Norris kicks ass in it, and it's just generally entertaining. It's just too bad that it didn't get a sequel and we still don't know what happened at the end. We need resolution, man. Maybe CBS will come to its senses, and give the world a real ending to the Walker, Texas Ranger story.

Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial by Fire watch it as soon as you can. Rating: 8.0/10.0

i enjoyed it.
davenport78417 October 2005
Walker Texas Ranger isn't good. its shitacularly hilarious. its so bad, its funny. everything about is implausible and unbelievable, but i don't watch TV or movies to see the everyday ordinary stuff. i see those things as brief reprieve from the usual. in that regard, i found Walker to be worth the two hours i spent not caring bout life. i laughed the entire time. and i've also always been a fan of the TV show. if you want something "real", watch reality TV. but personally i have enough problems. i don't want to watch two people i don't know have sex then fight on "big Brother 23". i wan't to see Chuck Norris kick someone in the face. it took me away from reality, and for that, i think "trial by fire" was worth it.

Very indignity
weatherman500020 October 2005
Warning: Spoilers
I must say this movie is a Mork and Mindy knock off, when watching it i got the chills, I even wet myself a little. When that Korean guy with the spiders in his neck started kicking people i was like oh my lord Asian people smell and suck cause they eat dogs all the time. Any way back on track Chuck had a somewhat terrible performance and lacked the intelligence of a regular non robotic human being. Some people would compare it to his earlier days when he was a car wash analyzer and believed in the holy ghost and the ghost of Christmas past. This movie is so bad I put my new born child in a box and left it in Mr. Norris mailbox. He can raise my kid I'm not letting him into a world where he thinks chuck Norris is a karate expert Ill let him see what that hack is like in real life for the rest of his life.

I think CBS should make a new Walker Texas Ranger movie and replay part one. I have not even seen the movie but I've seen clips of it on Google. I think Cindy and Gage were getting along pretty good. Trevette and Erika were to get married on the final showdown. What will happen? I heard that Alex got shot and I heard that Trevette was only on it for about 5 minutes. I hope Alex doesn't die. And I hope Trevette is in it more. I hope very soon they will rerun Trial by Fire so I can watch it. Also I heard Nia Peeples was not in the movie. I think it was sad she was not in the reunion. I think her character was very good in the shows on TV. Was it the same music being played like in the other shows? How many people did he fight in this movie? Does he still have his silver truck?

When Chuck Norris meets Perry Mason
Leofwine_draca7 February 2018
Warning: Spoilers
TRIAL BY FIRE is a TV movie spin-off of the long-running WALKER, TEXAS RANGER TV series starring the one and only Chuck Norris. I haven't watched the show (unfortunately), but this film feels like a cross between a typical Norris movie and a typical PERRY MASON mystery. Half of it is a detective story and the other half a courtroom drama. The story has a bunch of North Koreans (!) on the hunt for a military computer processor that can be used to arm missiles to attack the US. They kill anyone who gets in their way, and Norris follows the bodies. For Norris fans, there isn't as much action as you'd hope, and he only gets to take part in two or three fight scenes, mostly at the end of the film. He's pretty obviously doubled too. The rest is average TV fodder, with melodrama and slight overacting, but it's fast enough that it's not boring, just cheesy.

Not a good movie.
hemily-1235117 October 2023
I agree with most who say that the movie needed Trivette and Sydney. If the actors weren't available they should have waited until they were. I understand that they were hoping to do a series of movies but the poor ratings crushed that idea.

Janine Turner is a good actress but she was not right for this role.

Sadly it's probably too late to correct their mistakes and some people will have to settle for the remake Maybe Chuck Norris might have one last movie in him.

W can just make up our own ending where Alex is rushed to the hospital and she manages to pull through.

Maybe next time they wise up and make sure ALK are available.

Trial by Fire
msscarlett0231 December 2006
I enjoyed the Walker series the entire time it ran. I liked the movie as well, except the for the ending. Has anyone heard if there will be another movie? I hope so and I hope this time Clarence Gilyard doesn't have any conflicts so "Jimmy" can have a larger part.

I agree that it would be great to see Nia Peeples back to see what has developed between her character and Judson Mills' character.

My thought is that Alex doesn't survive this time and Walker becomes a single parent. Maybe this is how they bring closure to the series. Not a great way to end things, but all good things do have to end some time.

I was wondering if "The President's Man" movie was the pilot for another series and just didn't fly with execs; does anyone have an answer to this. If so, I'd appreciate knowing.

Bring us more Walker!

are they going to show it again
eagleone17517 October 2005
Warning: Spoilers
Is this going to be the last show, I hope not because the end where Walkers wife gets shot and then drops and just ends right there is not good. So i am hoping they make another to explain on what happens. It's a great show anyway. I have seen this show ever since it started and did not like it when it ended. So hopefully they bring it back just one more time, and having it go out with a big bang. They didn't explain on what happen to Walkers partner Travit. He left to do some training but didn't explain on what he was training for. And what about walker, didn't show him coming back when his wife got shot and if she even made it or not. So they have to bring it back

I hated the way it ended.....
bestbreeds19 October 2005
I loved the series, and watch it in reruns everyday.... so I couldn't wait for this to come out. The story line was good, but not enough of the series actors in it... It was a lot like the CSI series we see today, which is great... but still missed the actors... the ending was not good... and I was a bit disappointed in that... no a lot disappointed. What happened to Trevets character?? No action from him, and he always brought life to the series... and Nia Peeples??? Her and Gage seemed to be getting together at the end of the series... it isn't a good thing when Hollywood makes sequels and does not even bring up original characters. I guess I am just an oldie lover, but still am so disappointed in the ending. If it makes any sense at all, I still am glad i watched it.... Chuck make another one and make the ending better, and save your wife!!!

What Happens Next
scdilts16 October 2005
I loved the movie but I hated the way it ended. Are they going to make another movie or what. I wish they would bring it back on. I always enjoyed Walker Texas Ranger. I enjoy watching Chuck Norris in just about everything that he has ever played in. Most of his movies that I watch are action movies. Sherrie Wilson plays well next to Chuck Norris. This movie was well written and had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. I did however miss Tribet not being in very much of the movie. Jimmy and Cordell always watched each others back. Jimmy always seemed to get the worse of the deal, but he still backed Walker up. I hope they are going to make another movie.

It is about time!
MistyGayle197616 October 2005
My whole family loves to watch Walker Texas Ranger. We were very sad when they stop filming it. Our youngest son loved watching Walker. He was very sick for three years before he passed away. The time he spent watching Walker helped him though some very hard times. We have always hoped Chuck would come back as Walker. We think he is a very good role model for young people. And in the world we live in they need all the good role models they can get. We were very excited when we heard about this new movie. We hope this is a sign that we will be able to watch Walker every week again. We really enjoyed "Trial by Fire". Can't wait to see the next one. Hope that will be very soon! Misty

Awesome
kldemers24 October 2005
What a show! I was disappointed that Trivette was not in it more, but I understand that production was delayed and he already had a previous and unbreakable commitment when filming actually began. I cannot believe the ending. I wonder how long we have to wait. there has to be a sequel. Chuck (at 65) looks great! Hope I am still active and energetic when I am 65. I do want to know why Sydney was not in it? Does anyone know? Also, does anyone know when this will be aired again? I really liked the way that they modernized it, yet kept it the same - it was comforting that Walker still had a silver truck. I have loved this show from day 1, and was so excited that it was back. I really hope that a sequel to this cliff hanger arrives soon.

Walker
yellownissan0418 October 2005
I would give it a 10 for this 2 hour show. I liked the action they put in there and it showed lots of martial arts fights and those Korean guys had some speed in their arts. The sad part was that Alex got shot and we as audience don't know for sure if she died or just down unconsciously. At one time Alex got shot during a wedding and Walker wanted to ask her something (marry him) but never occurred until she stayed in the hospital a few days. Remember that show? I can't remember the name of the show right now but she did recover from that wound. Now Walker walked out of the building as soon as Alex got shot. The guy that shot her and he was in several episodes and I SERIOUSLY thought he got killed in the last season episode...didn't he? or was he acting a different character this time? Also I thought before Alex got shot, she expressed confusion because that guy that shot her came back to life or something. But then the wound appeared on TV, it was blood and then I just couldn't believe it. Walker couldn't have heard the shot from outside the building and that is why he didn't come back in quickly. I do hope that he'll come back to film a few more of Walker shows. I read the article that he said he wouldn't mind making 1 or 2 shows per year but it all depends on how much his wife and kids need him. Family is more important than anything right now especially the kids are so young and they depend on parents...Even though we as audience really would love to see Walker for another 8 years! ha...I would. He'll be in his 70's if he continued for another 8 years.....Also the good thing was that he had a new office and it looked so modern and spread out. Nice pad for CAPTAIN. Also big Windows that has great view of Downtown Dallas instead of Downtown Ft. Worth. It was time for a change and also nice Dodge Ram Hemi and other cars. It was nice change and its time to hope and pray that he'll either do another series or just another show soon.

Walker Texas Ranger (Trial by fire)
pickles65200330 October 2005
I really enjoyed the movie, there was a lot of action and this time the rangers had a hard time with the bad guys. I would really like to know why jimmy was only in it for a few minutes,I would like to know if there is going to be a continued show because the ending sucked it just left us wanting more, is Alex dead or is she just hurt bad? Come on guys you have to have another movie or bring back the series. Iam sure you would have a lot of viewers watching. You can't leave walker a widower and his daughter motherless, It took them along time to get were they are now. So bring back "WALKER Texas RANGER" in another movie or the series. Please i really don't like the new shows that are on now, especially all those reality shows.

Thanks from a loyal fan of walkers!
