Although Phoebe Tonkin was in the 2012 shark thriller Bait and the high profile 2022 flop Babylon, most viewers probably know her from her work in television: she has been on multiple episodes H2O: Just Add Water, Home and Away, The Secret Circle, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Westworld, Safe Harbour, and more. I just finished watching a Netflix series she was in, Boy Swallows Universe, which I thought was pretty great. Now Tonkin has the lead role in a thriller called Night Shift, which just received a VOD and limited theatrical release today, courtesy of Quiver Distribution. To help you figure out whether or not Night Shift is a movie you’d like to see, we have a clip and the film’s trailer embedded above.

In February 2023, Netflix will remove a bunch of movie and TV series from its library,
Netflix UK and Netflix US takes down numerous titles each month without fanfare, meaning that many things on your watchlist could suddenly disappear.
These removals are due to licencing deals coming to an end. Often, the titles make their way back to Netflix in the following year, but sometimes they leave to go to other platforms.
This month sees a selection of Netflix Originals being taken down, also.
To minimise surprise, we have put together a comprehensive list of everything being removed in both Netflix UK and US.

The Originals has been off the air for over four years, but the popularity of the world established in The Vampire Diaries reigns today.
The second spinoff series, Legacies, got canceled after four seasons, and fans have been clamoring for it to be saved.
We're here to take a look at the Originals, and what the actors are doing now!
Leah Pipes -- Camille O'Connell
Camille was a human bartender who got turned into a vampire by Aurora de Martel before being killed by Lucien.
Leah Pipes amassed 65 episodes before her character got killed by the werewolf bite.
Before the originals, she had the occasional guest role in many different teen-centered series, like Glee.
After the Originals, Pipes appeared in the occasional feature film, along with a guest role on 9-1-1.
She continued her guest appearances when she did eight episodes on the CW's reboot of the TV series...

French sales agency Elle Driver is giving a Cannes Market launch to “Kid Snow,” a West Australian-produced tale of redemption set in the 1970s world of tent boxing. Production starts on Monday in Australia’s Goldfields-Esperance region, making it the first feature film to kick off production in the state since its border re-opened.
Boxing tents toured Australia’s small towns from the early 1900s until the 1970s, and were venues where professional fighters faced off against local challengers. The troupes criss-crossed the outback, boasted a carnival-like atmosphere and were places where Indigenous fighters could become heroes.
Penned by writers John Brumpton and Stephen Cleary, the story involves a washed-up Irish boxer named Kid Snow who is finally given a chance to redeem himself when he is offered a rematch against the man he fought a decade prior, on a night that changed his life forever. When Kid Snow meets single mother Sunny,...

The Notebook Primer introduces readers to some of the most important figures, films, genres, and movements in film history.Above: The Witch Who Came From the SeaAcross decades and genres, mermaids and sirens rise from the deep to confront audiences with the already unstable human identity. In 2009, Nadya Vessey, an Australian double amputee, bewitched the world with her personal transformation—with the help of special effects company Weta Workshop, she acquired a prosthetic mermaid tail. As glamorized as it was by news stories, Vessay’s adult mermaid embodiment serves as an example of how the female—and disabled—body queers one of the longest-standing fetishes of the male gaze. It is precisely the hybrid nature of the marine feminine which attracts and repulses, its fluidity intimately tied to female maturation, in the process of which the flesh and bone remain both human and foreign at the same time. There’s...

In a powerful alliance, Paris-based premium kids content producer Cottonwood Media, German public broadcaster Zdf and its co-pro and distribution arm Zdf Enterprises, HBO Max and Brazil’s Globo are teaming to produce “Theodosia,” a big new live action kids adventure series targeting family audiences.

Friends and colleagues have paid tribute to film and TV first assistant director Jamie Leslie, who died on Friday from cancer. He was 62.
His final film in a distinguished 38-year career was Kriv Stenders’ Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan.
“Not only was he an industry legend but he was an incredible mentor for me and a huge reason that film came to be,” Stenders says.
“Jamie came on early in pre-production when the film was teetering on the edge of an abyss. We weren’t bonded, we lost $2 million two weeks before shooting, we had no tanks, choppers or guns and we were running on fumes longer than I ever thought was humanly possible.
“But never once did he waver. He was my rock and every hour, every day we just worked the problem, until there was the next one.

A couple days ago we reported that The Tomorrow People‘s Robbie Amell had found a new home on the CW’s high anticipated fall series, The Flash, and now another former Tomorrow People star has also moved on – even if fans have not. Luke Mitchell, who played John Young on the short-lived CW supernatural drama, has just been cast in ABC’s mid-season drama series, Members Only.
The new show, formerly titled The Club, will center around a private country club. Mitchell will play Jesse, a character from the wrong side of the tracks who was recently employed at the club and although he’ll appears to be a little rough around the edges, he actually has his life together.
Along with Mitchell, Members Only stars Betsy Brandt (Breaking Bad), Boris Kodjoe (Undercovers), Callie Hernandez (From Dusk Till Dawn), Chris Conroy, and newly cast Jaime Lee Kirchner (Mercy). Kirchner...

‘The Originals’ finally returned Jan. 14, and just as you’d expect, it did not come quietly.
I think I speak for everyone when I say: All hail Davina (Danielle Campbell)! The most powerful — not to mention adorable — spell caster in New Orleans was public enemy No. 1 on the Jan. 14 episode of The Originals, as literally every supernatural faction fought to track her down. Unfortunately, everyone wanted her for a totally different reason, and no backs went unstabbed.
‘Haylijah’ On Hold?
The first betrayal came courtesy of Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin), who was forced to sell out Elijah (Daniel Gillies) by tracking down the body of Celeste DuBois, a witch he promised to keep hidden. It was a nasty little plan concocted by Sophie (Daniella Pineda), who explained that her bloodline executed the curse on Hayley’s family.
Long story short, Celeste is not someone to be trifled with — dead or alive...

Emily’s luck just got a whole lot worse.
First, Daniel (Joshua Bowman) shot Emily (Emily VanCamp) and ruined her entire revenge plan; then, Emily lost and regained her memories all in one day; and on the Jan. 12 episode of Revenge, Emily had to do battle with the Graysons in the worst place ever — the Grayson Manor!
At the beginning of the episode, Emily was still stuck at the hospital and feeling down, but a little visit from Nolan (Gabriel Mann) in a candy striper outfit put a smile on her face. You guys, Nolan’s just the best. He tried to find out when Emily would be fighting back against the Graysons, but unfortunately, Emily was not having it. She didn’t want to take part in anymore revenge; she just wanted out of the Hamptons, which is understandable — but Emily didn’t stay that way for long!

Zap2it: How do you describe "The Tomorrow People" superior creatures?
Luke Mitchell: They are not dressed in capes. They are regular people living underground. They do a lot of hiding.
Zap2it: You were in "H2O: Just Add Water," an Australian series, which is also a cult favorite around the world. What was that like?
Luke Mitchell: That was a lot of fun. It was very popular. I was in Season 3, and it was a cool concept. It clinched that I love this and want to do it, and if I can get paid for it, even better.
Zap2it: You were working in Australia. Why make the huge move?
Luke Mitchell: I wanted to go to Hollywood because that's where the opportunities for me are. Enjoying what I do is a big part of it.
Zap2it: What was your training?
Luke Mitchell: It was stage-type training.

As if high school weren't tough enough, Stephen Jameson is convinced, with good reason, that he is going crazy.
He hears voices no one else does. Yet in Stephen's strange new life the voices are real. He's a superior creature, a "homo superior," as he discovers on the compelling "The Tomorrow People," premiering on The CW Wednesday, Oct. 9.
Stephen is a good guy, says Robbie Amell ("1600 Penn"), who plays the high-school student. He earns good grades and is a devoted son, but his life unravels.
"In the past year things have gone to hell for him," Amell says to Zap2it. "If you were hearing voices in your head that weren't your own, that would be horrifying. He is finding out that there isn't anything wrong."

To hear Charles Michael Davis tell it, The Originals will be no less than “10 times sexier and cooler” than the CW drama that sired it, The Vampire Diaries.
That was just one of the titillating teases tendered by the spin-off’s cast as they spoke with Meg Masters in TVLine’s Comic-Con interview suite.

News of beloved villain Joseph Morgan leaving "The Vampire Diaries" for his potential new spin-off "The Originals" has been relatively polarizing in the fandom. Some fans feel that his absence will leave "Tvd" lacking, while other fans are looking forward to him taking on a more central role (and, thus, getting much more screen-time) in the new series, which will be set in New Orleans.

After Season 3 of "The Vampire Diaries" wrapped, we put together a little wishlist for Season 4 -- and on that list was Phoebe Tonkin. We once described her as "The Secret Circle's" answer to Ian Somerhalder, so now that the Circle has been broken, it's only appropriate that she show up in Mystic Falls to wreak some havoc.
In tonight's episode of "The Vampire Diaries," Phoebe makes her debut as Hayley, a sassy, sexy newcomer who will fill in some of the blanks when it comes to Tyler's (Michael Trevino) extended absence in Season 3.

Last week it was announced that The CW was working on a potential Wonder Woman TV series, and there was only one name on critics' tongues: Phoebe Tonkin. This fact not only reinforces what an exciting on-screen presence she proved to be on The Secret Circle, but goes to show you just how much industry support she has.
After all, this is the same girl that led Kevin Williamson (a man who certainly can spot a star in the making) to say, "I love Phoebe. I want her on Vampire Diaries. Or The Following. We've got the best news ever for you this morning -- proving that wishes do come true!
"The Secret Circle" spitfire Phoebe Tonkin has landed a juicy recurring role on Season 4 of "The Vampire Diaries" as Hayley, a friend of Tyler's (Michael Trevino). First appearing in episode 3, 19-year-old Hayley is "wildly sexy" -- with a tough, intimidating side that could just give Caroline (Candice Accola) a run for her money.
Let's just hope that by the time Hayley surprises Tyler in Mystic Falls, he's back to actually being Tyler.
Best known in the U.S. for her witchy ways on "Tsc," Tonkin made a splash in Australia on "H2O: Just Add Water," where she played a mermaid alongside her soon-to-be "Vampire Diaries" costar (and off-screen bestie) Claire Holt.

From everything we're hearing about "The Secret Circle", it sounds like once we get through the first couple of episodes, we can expect shit to be hitting the fan in typical Kevin Williamson fashion. First, though, we have to get to know the characters, and helping in that regard is today's video interview with Jessica Parker Kennedy, who introduces us to Melissa, bad girl Faye's best friend.
Be sure to tune in to The CW next Thursday, September 15th, for the season premiere of "The Secret Circle"!

"The Secret Circle" has the potential to be one of the more interesting shows of the new TV season. Maybe it's because there isn't very much to look forward to as the fall shows are just around the corner, but there is an interesting premise here. Put me down to check out the pilot at least. And while we're waiting for 9/15 to arrive, we've got an expansive gallery of images from the premiere for you to check out!

The CW has unveiled a new set of six posters (via TVLine) for its upcoming supernatural series The Secret Circle, and they certainly look striking. Each one features a different character and a distinct color scheme, and they're all fairly engrossing. The spells the witches on the poster are casting look like crosses between the magic of The Dresden Files and the superpowers of Heroes. That is to say, pretty cool.
The Secret Circle stars Britt Robertson as a girl who moves to a new town and discovers that she and many of her new friends there are witches. Those friends include Thomas Dekker (Heroes, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles), Shelley Hennig (Days of Our Lives), and Phoebe Tonkin (H2O: Just Add Water). The series is based on a trilogy of novels by author L.J. Smith.
Check out the posters below. The Secret Circle will premiere on Thursday, September 15, on the CW.
