Plot from the Past
Hitchcoc18 December 2019
Early on, there was a nearly identical plot. It had to do with the same Clara telling Bee that she was wet blanketing Andy's chances at romance. Here, she makes up an imaginary boyfriend but chooses a man who is already married. It is so saccharine. I did feel sorry for the poor guy who got caught in the middle. He had nothing to do with any of this.

Aunt Bea creates a beau
mloessel25 January 2024
Warning: Spoilers
Clara easily influences Aunt Bea when it comes to matters of the heart. In this episode it's about Clara convincing Bea that she needs a beau in her life so Andy can have the freedom of marrying Helen. Unfortunately Bea makes a beau who happens to be married. When Beau shares this with Andy he's delighted and shares this news with Mr. Nosy Deputy Fife. Fife wants to know everything about the guy but Andy has little to share. This frustrates Fife as Fife assumes Bea's beau could be a bad seed. Bea's beau turns out to be a butter and egg man and Fife sees his truck when he pulls in to get some gas. To Fife's shock he learns that the butter and egg (Mr Hendricks) man is married. He learns this from talking to the man's son. Such news causes Fife to go into overdrive and he wastes little time in telling Andy. Andy then visits Mr Hendricks with Fife in tow. Hendricks is also shocked when he hears the news and decides it would be best to cancel his business with the Taylors. In the next to final scene we have Clara having a chat with Andy about his relationship with Helen. He lets Clara know there is nothing new to share. Andy knows that Aunt Beaus desire to make up a boyfriend came from a conversation she had with Clara. This is the 'The Andy Griffith Show' at its best.

Mount Airy, NC

Andy is seen reading the newspaper where the masthead reads, "...Airy News". Mount Airy, North Carolina was the childhood home of Andy Griffith and is considered to be the "true" Mayberry, North Carolina where the show lives.

Great acting saves the day

Warning: Spoilers
This may have the same ending as another episode where Aunt Bee is convinced she is in the way of Andy and Helen's relationship. But the acting, especially by Mr. Hendricks, the butter and egg man, saves this episode from being typical. The one thing that bothers me is that Mr. Hendricks gets no retribution or apology, when he has done absolutely nothing wrong. I believe the theme that Clara's suggestions to Bee were not ill intentioned; however, it's obvious that in the back of Bee's mind, she might be standing in the way of Andy's feeling free to pursue a mate.

It's really a good episode, and pretty funny in the spot where Mr. Hendricks tries to figure out what Andy's "getting at"; but for those who want some belly laughs, they're not here. What is here is a great and touching ending with anyone with half a heart relating with Aunt Bee's relief.

Barely hangs on

Warning: Spoilers
Yes people still had milk /dairy delivery in the 60's although less and less by then.

Mean spirited buttinsky Clara gives Bee the idea she's in the way with Andy and Helen .

She's not but once again as pointed out it's a weak remake and Aunt Bee pretends to be involved with her butter and egg man. Barney finds out he's married with a family. Andy confronts him and realized there is a misunderstanding. Bee must find another butter and egg man or buy it at the market.

I agree Barney help lighten things up.

Clara can be so irritating! I wish Andy had told her off .

Weak remake of a below average episode.

Aunt Bee linking herself to a married man was really absurd. Don Knotts lightened things up a little. But, the episode was a lost cause. Very awkward, and uncomfortable viewing.

Insensitive Aunt Bea

Warning: Spoilers
So Mr. Hendrick's reputation was on the line and he was HORRIFIED at the accusation. No apology from Aunt Bea? Or Sheriff Taylor? This part of this episode has always bothered me. Message was: OK to spread rumors that nearly ruin a man's marriage and happily go on your way afterwards.

Pesky Clara Edwards

Clara keep your nose out of the Taylor home!

Aunt Bee is just as irritating as her sometimes best girlfriend.

Barney gets down to brass tacks in this one with his investigative ways.

Be it,no tv show or episode aren't perfect but Clara couldn't be more of a busybody than Aunt Bee.

Andy get yourself another butter and egg man, tell Bee that Clara needs a hobby instead of playing matchmaker.

It's not hard to realize Clara and Bee are the worst characters on the show including Helen Crump,Malcolm Merriwether, the Darlings, boring Howard Sprague and dopey Warren.

Clara is not appealing to me...
