Absolute joy fest, painfully funny episode.
Mrs Slocombe is seeking a promotion, she has an interview lined up Captain Peacock has gone off the rails, and behaved inappropriately with Mr Rumbold's new secretary. Mrs Peacock is fuming with her husband and comes into the store to have it out with him, but worse, the girl's father comes in. Lots of misunderstandings take place, poor Mrs Slocombe gets hit with an umbrella and Mr Grainger gets a wedding cake over the head. Young Mr Grace holds an enquiry to get to the bottom of the matter.
A strong case for this being my favourite episode, it is belly laugh funny from start to finish, Mrs Slocombe's scene with Mrs Peacock is hilarious. The scene of Mrs Peacock chasing Mrs Slocombe across the shop floor with her umbrella has me in stitches. The trial held by Mr Grace too, just joyful.
The cast clearly had an absolute ball making it, and the viewer shares in the joy, magnificent, comedy at its best! Pefect 10/10
