the writers always do their best work with humanistic themes

As was the case with the award winning series upon which this "showcase" (futuristic) series was based, the best episodes are the ones without the super-villains, the ones where human foibles are more important than mad scientists and ego-maniacs.

My personal view was there were was enough life left in the original Batman without the need to age him and have him pass his legacy to a high-schooler.

As is the case with most of my personal views, no one seemed to care.

That said, the Terry character is well constructed, given the limitations of the riff, and this episode, which is almost entirely about being in high-school, is good fun.

And the close, which plays off the dialog "We can still be friends," is nothing less than inspired.

One of the better highschool centered episodes.

Warning: Spoilers
After re-watching the Batman Beyond show I found that many of the episodes centered around Terry's highschool life rarely fell in good taste with what I remember from the show, but this one was a little better.

The sci-fi element of designing your own human using robot technology was a fine addition to the highschool setting when the attention seeking Howard wants a hot girlfriend just to get popular. That comes with severe disadvantages obviously.

If the writers had devoted a little more time to investigate the origin of the illegal selling of the synthoid robots instead of just making it a discovery made while Terry runs an errand for Bruce it could have been more interesting.
