Diamonds are an Angel's best friend
adamcshelby8 July 2021
An aging diamond thief hires the Angels to steal back a diamond in order to return to its rightful owners. The episode takes places in the Caribbean but unlike the season opener in Hawaii this was not filmed on location. The first half hour is quite slow, adding to the malaise is Bosley and Sabrina's poor attempts at hoity-toity English accents. It's the second time this season that Sabrina has faked a Euro accent, though this time she isn't as bad as her earlier French abomination. Still, it's cringe-inducing.

Kris sort of romances the wealthy son of the man they hope to steal the diamond from, and yes, the guy gets a kiss in the end. Kelly serves as a distraction to a security man played by the great all-time villain, Sid Haig. Easy to see how Jaclyn Smith could tempt any man, and her seductive dancing is more than enough to do the trick.

Bert Remson makes his second CA appearance as a rival thief who'd be happy to have the Angels steal the diamond, just so he can steal it from them. In season 1 he played a good guy, a gambler and card sharp who assisted the Angels big time, here he's all bad.

The plot picks up in the second half when they attempt to steal the diamond. One laughable moment is when the Angels and Bosley show up for the mission wearing burglar black. Considering the fact that it's daytime in the tropics, it made me laugh. Burglars only wear black at night, but CA has to stick with their tropes. Another one is the fact that the diamond is being 'guarded' by a venomous snake. Again, completely departed from reality. How do they keep the snake alive in a glass box all day? Do they have too keep it warm too, being a reptile and all? And the main point is this, reptiles will not guard anything no matter how much you pay them. They may try to bite you, but they won't stop anyone from stealing a diamond once the snake problem is figured out.

Despite that craziness, Cheryl Ladd has some nice moments scaling into the vault to steal the diamond like some kind of mountain climbing tight rope walker. Because the 2nd half picked up, this ep gets a 6/10.

My Favorite Episode!

I especially love the scene where Kelly distracts the security guard by dancing around in his office wearing a completely backless outfit, and she looks great in it. What a beautiful back. WOW!

Only a 5, overacting by Kate Jackson was too much
MiketheWhistle20 July 2018
Many people thought/believe William Shatner overacted in Star Trek although it came from his background and often due to the directing. In this episode, Kate Jackson portends to be a Countess and her overacting simply makes this nearly unwatchable.Note that this is for this episode and it does fall into her character so it's not a slight on her or the show in general, but still simply terrible.
