Testing Teenage Parenting Skills
wes-connors27 June 2009
After a successful PTA speech, all of Hilldale considers Donna (Donna Reed) an authority on teen parenting. When Jeff (Paul Peterson) needs to borrow $2.00 for a folly, Donna asks no questions; she trusts her child. Worried mom Florida Friebus (as Helen Brooks) asks Donna's advice regarding randy Richard Tyler (as Leonard Glenn), a young man who is dating her daughter, Roberta Shore (as Nancy Brooks); Donna advises Ms. Friebus to "have faith", predicting the couple will break up.

Sure enough, Mr. Tyler and Ms. Shore become unhitched. But, then, the suave and seductive Tyler hooks up with daughter Mary (Shelley Fabares). Alex (Carl Betz) has to remind Donna to follow her own advice, while the handsome young man entertains Mary with "mature" thoughts… This episode is predictable, but funny; and, Tyler does a particularly good job with a difficult to deliver script.

***** Do You Trust Your Child? (4/22/59) Oscar Rudolph ~ Donna Reed, Richard Tyler, Shelley Fabares
