It's amazing how much the Virginia coast looks just like California!

I am a big fan of the old TV show "The F.B.I." but I must admit that the show occasionally blew it when it came to geography. I remember well one episode which was to have taken place around Chicago...and you can clearly see mountains! There are no mountains anywhere near Chicago! Likewise, in "The Hostage", you supposedly see the Virginia coast...and there are mountains there as well. Considering I grew up in this part of the world, I can assure you that there are no mountains on the Virginia coast....and such scenes often make me chuckle. Still, despite this, "The Hostage" is a decent episode.

The story begins with a group of secret agents arriving on the coast. It happens to be on military property and the trio soon murder the sailor who catches them there. The bloodthirsty group are on a mission...one which seems to mean that murder isn't such a bad thing. After all, they're out to kidnap an anti-communist dissident (Paul Lukas) and use him to trade for a jailed Soviet spy.

Spies generally make for enjoyable episodes...and this one is no exception. The coldness of the leader help to make it enjoyable. Well worth seeing.
