It's About Time

Niles feels it is time to finally pop the question. He and Frasier head for a jewelry store to get "the" ring. Martin takes Daphne's mother out so Niles can propose. This is quite an uncomfortable scene. The best part of the episode is what Frasier cooks up to make the moment incredibly monumental. Watch the last five minutes. It is stunning.

One of the Best-- Well crafted, touching, funny

Been binging on Frasier lately, 20 years later. Came back to see what others thought of this episode which was so splendidly done. Every character shines, is swept up in short gem-like, iconic character-led moments. Was sure it would have gotten a high score and saw it hadn't. Don't know what others watched, this one was one of the best. I laughed out loud which I rarely do these days, and pulled on my heart strings once again. I watch it at times amazed how good a show it was, not a dull moment, just the best kind of entertainment. And everyone has such range, no wonder we miss it. Only lull was Daphne's mom, who I don't care for, or I would have given it a 10.

High water mark for the season

The latter seasons of Frasier (8-11) were very hit and miss for quality, however this episode takes a page from some of the better farce episodes from the early years and delivers plenty of laughs, particularly in the final few minutes.

The Proposal

This is a nice episode and an important one in the life of the show in general. Consistency hasn't been the greatest strength of 'Frasier' in recent times, so it's good that this moment was done well.

It is nice to see a return of the farce element that the show does so well, and almost seemed to abandon in its later years.

Is this as good as it could, and indeed should, have been? No. But then again I think there was such anticipation about this moment that nothing really could have done it justice.

Judged by 'Frasier' series eight to eleven standards though this remains a good episode, and one that is well performed by the ever-willing cast.
