I don't mind sad movies or tv episodes. I hate when they try to push it onto us unearned. This episode does not do it as bad as it could have, but it is still not deserving of a full positive review.

Michelle is all excited for her first day of preschool. Danny, Jesse, Joey and Becky overhype it and make it seem like a magical land of nonstop enchantment. The way they tell her a bedtime story and the dream Michelle has can make the viewer fall head over heals. But the fun does not last long. Michelle's teacher seems nice and the classroom is just an average classroom for children. We also meet Aaron Bailey--an undisciplined brat who has run-ins with Michelle for the remainder of the series. The class pet is a parrot named Dave who Michelle accidentally lets loose during story time. None of the kids play with her and Michelle's feelings hit rock bottom. Almost the remainder of the episode after Dave flies away is Michelle sulking and not wanting to go back with Danny saying she needs to. Preschool is not mandatory. Most people I know never went to preschool and they were just fine throughout regular school. But the bottom line is there is simply not enough strength behind this story. Of course Michelle does get liked when her and her dad donate another bird to the school.

The subplot is funny. Stephanie constantly reads DJ's diary. She is simply fascinated by her big sister and all her mature escapades. She breaks her diary and can't glue it together. Uh-oh.

I say watch the subplot, watch the beginning and end of the main plot.
