Eloquently Tackles An Important Subject.

Warning: Spoilers
Eating disorders is an issue I have not seem a whole lot of family sitcoms discuss. I'm a bit surprised because negative personal images are very common among teenage girls. And Full House expertly tackles this.

DJ is invited to Kimmy's surprise birthday party at a hotel pool. The party is in one week and DJ thinks she can drop a few pounds by not eating. She's embarrassed to wear a bathing suit with her friends. After all, Kimmy is skinny. The whole family goes to the gym in a massively hilarious bit. There, DJ overdoes it and nearly passes out. Stephanie, who is sworn to secrecy, finally tells the family about her crash diet. Danny explains DJ that she is beautiful and that her friends won't judge her. Danny connecting to DJ did better in explaining friendship than the harms of eating disorders. Okay fine. The episode was still serious and funny in all the right spots.

The One Where D.J. Almost Gets An Eating Disorder...

Warning: Spoilers
I really love this episode. I think the main reason why I love it is because of the way they handled eating issues and eating disorders. They didn't glamorize it like some TV shows and movies do. They showed what will eventually happen, so hopefully people watched this episode and know what not to do.

In this episode, D.J. wants to lose weight so she can look good in a swimsuit for Kimmy's birthday pool party. But she takes it a little too far. She skips meals and works out way too much, leading her to pass out at the gym and her family forcing her to eat.

Best part of the episode: When D.J. understands why she shouldn't not eat and continuously work out.

Worst part of the episode: When D.J. passes out.

Overall, I give this episode a 10 out of 10, which in my ratings book is: Freaking Ridonkulous.
