A door at Gull Cottage is stuck and landlord Claymore (Charles Nelson Reilly) is summoned to repair it. In doing so, Captain Gregg (Edward Mulhare) secretly pranks with the handle sending Claymore to the ground and injuring his neck. Mrs. Muir (Hope Lange) calls for Dr. Feeney (familiar gruff character actor Roy Engel) who says he has a slipped disc and must not be moved. In a sendup of "The Man Who Came to Dinner", Claymore runs the family ragged with requests while receiving gifts he's ordered. Mrs. Muir is accommodating, but is told by an appreciative Claymore that he plans to sue her. His motive makes for a touching ending, however.
