Anything he wants! Whatever it takes to get them! All he has to do is ask me and I'll do it!

***SPOILER*** Fearing that San Francisco mobster Warren Stuart, Simon Scott, is going to turn states evidence against the Organization mob chief Jack Trask, Jack Lord, has him whacked right in front of his girlfriend top fashion model Tina Masson,Susanne Cramer, while taking a dip in his swimming pool. Put on the case special police consultant Robert T. Ironside, Raymond Burr, keeps the news of Stuart's murder from the newspapers making it look like he survived the hit-job and is in protective custody at a local San Francisco hospital. It now turns into a waiting game for Ironside with Trask in order to see when he'll come out of the shadows and show his hand. That in him trying to finish the job , the hit job on Stuart, that unknown to Trask has already been accomplished!

Trask is now in trouble with his boss "The Boss of Bosses" of the California Crime Syndicated Mister Big himself Salvadore "Big Sal" Gregory, Byron Morrow who's gangster empire is on the brink of collapse it Stuart talks. Knowing that if he doesn't get to knock off the seriously injured Stuart, who's unknown to Trask already dead, he'll end up at the bottom of San Francisco Bay in a concrete overcoat courtesy of "Big Sal" Gregory. Having Stuart's girlfriend kidnapped by his goons Trask plans to use her as collateral or a bargaining chip in having Stuart not testify against him and his boss "Big Sal' Gregory or so he thought! That in Trask not knowing that Stuart was in no condition to talk to anyone anymore.

*****SPOILERS**** Panicking and making a run for it when the cops and Ironside were closing him on him Trask ends up, with hostage Tina Masson, at the San Francisco Airport and is ready to shoot it out with them as a last resort. Like all big time hoods Trask chickens out at the very last moment when his fellow goons deserted him and is quickly taken into custody by Ironside and the SFPD. With Trask about to be put into a police paddy-wagon he unconsciously commits another crime that the police can hold him on. He gets a ticket, littering in a public facility, for dropping a lighted cigarette on the tarmac as he was handcuffed and taken away.
