Appallingly bad
Cindy Williams must have watched this episode when it aired and said to herself "Just look at how low the show has sunk without me." I'm sure she was thankful after seeing this not to be a part of the show anymore.

It has to be the absolute dumbest episode of any sitcom in TV history. Lenny & Squiggy just happen to hang around a women's prison death row?! And on the very day that Laverne is thrown in there?! Puh-lease!

I won't even go into how there's just no way on earth for what happened to Laverne to happen to anybody. It just defies all reality...but as I mention in my review of this sitcom in general.....it's so far removed from reality that it's more like a cartoon than sitcom.

This episode was definitely the death knell of the series....pardon the pun.

The musical jail

The musical number made no sense but it is amusing. I like the singing. All of them doing the intro dance Laverne and Shirley do in the credits was a good nod to remembering the original.

Unfunny, far-fetched, and truly embarrassing

Warning: Spoilers
The audience is suppose to believe that Laverne & Sheba (!) wind up on death row, because of mistaken identity. The basis of the error arises from the girls giving aliases of Smith and Jones--the same surnames as the condemned. Nobody bothers to check if the matron extradited the correct inmates.

The situation worsens, by becoming a musical. Laverne and the ladies of death row belt out, "I'm Going to a Place Where I Can Sit Down."

The poor quality probably indicates drug and alcohol use behind the scenes. That's the only possible explanation. All attempts at credibility and cohesion with the original concept had disappeared.

The second worst episode I've seen.

Warning: Spoilers
If Laverne on death row wasn't absurd enough, they put a full musical number in the middle of the show that was so out of place and weird. With the prisoners opening up their cells and coming out to dance.

Aside from that, I really don't think Lenny would be so callous about Laverne on death row. It seemed very out of his character.

Sylvia was, in my opinion, a bit annoying. Her character acted like a young teenager, but she's obviously in (at least) her late twenties.

The only thing that was any good about this episode was the part where Lenny and Squiggy visit the prison. It was right in character for them, as they mention doing this in an early episode.

Oh and let's not forget about the ending where Mr. DeFazio brings in the judge. The worst bit of acting and timing and writing I've seen in a long while.

If this is the first L&S episode you've watched, try again. They only go uphill from here. (except for 1 other episode, this is the worst I've seen)
