The Ranger and Tonto are surprised to see banker Henry McFarland making a blackmail payment to three masked men. Later, they offer to help Henry and he tells them his problem. His son son Andrew left town against Henry's wishes to go work on the railroad. The bank was $15,000 short and the masked men told him that Andrew had stolen the money. Henry was paying the blackmail until he could fully replace the missing money. The Ranger doubts Andrew's guilt and sets a trap for the masked men. It's soon exposed that Henry's nephew, Steve Lasher, a bank employee, actually stole the money and with the help of postmaster Joe Kean and his henchman Lefty, has been creating false evidence of Andrew's guilt. The trap set by The Ranger is a dangerous one and he and Tonto will have to be careful not to fall into it themselves. Notice that henchman Lefty wears his gun on the left side, but actually holds it in his right hand! Lefty must have been an alias for his real name, Righty!
