A storm is brewing

It's fun to see Ed Harris, before he became a big movie star. The role is an interesting one with him as a militant dad, teaching his sons how to shoot and defend themselves. Of course, since this is Lou Grant, the character is VERY militant and is obsessed with end-of-the-world scenarios. What I like is how this backwoods nut is contrasted with Rossi, who interviews him. Rossi is the complete opposite, much more sensitive and serene. The subplot about Art lounging around a pool in Hawaii provides some good comic relief. And there are some good moments with Rossi and Lou at Art's cabin; as well as a writer (played by Keene Curtis) who develops a relationship over the phone with a weather forecaster. Also worth noting: there are some good shots of actual storms in southern California at the time, which gives this one more of a documentary feel than other episodes.
