Bill Frawley's Last Hurrah
kgraovac7 November 2023
Ann Sothern returns in another appearance to fill the void left by Vivian. Her Countess character has inherited a racehorse named Oilwell. When she can't afford to pay the bill at the stable, Lucy keeps Oilwell on her patio.

Lucy wears a longer wig in this episode that makes her look like Endora from BEWITCHED. She looks older here for some reason. Herb Vigran, who plays the vet, receives applause when he enters the scene - unusual for a supporting player. It's a sitcom contrivance that no one recognizes the fact that Oilwell is a female horse until the vet informs them.

This is a fan-favorite because of the cameo by "Our Own Bill Frawley" - as the closing credits refer to him. Yes, this is Frawley's last TV appearance and he would pass away shortly after. Lucy has a great line as he exits, "You know, he reminds me of someone I used to know". This was a nice wink to the audience and I LOVE LUCY fans.

Notable for the Frawley cameo, otherwise a rather unremarkable effort.
