Mooney has a $6000 custom ring made for wife Irma and when Lucy tries it on, it gets stuck on her finger. Lucy overdoses on muscle relaxant pills to remedy the situation, with hilarious results.
Sharing the same plot, this episode is largely overshadowed by a Season 3 HERE'S LUCY episode "Lucy Meets the Burtons" because of the latter effort's star power. But in truth, this episode deserves praise because the middle scene, where Mooney tries to get the drugged-out Lucy back to her apartment is outstanding.
Ball and Gordon rarely had such a lengthy scene of physical comedy where it was just the two of them and this is as funny as anything she ever did with Vivian. The sight of Lucy slumped in and over Mooney's gorgeous red convertible like a rag doll, and his sharply written dialog with the policeman makes for one of Season 5's best scenes.
It does end on a predictable note with Mooney all wet, but this one deserves my rating for the middle scene alone.
