Instead of the usual "Last week on THE LUCY SHOW"... the script actually has the Lucy character giving the recap to the reporter and TV camera crew that have taken up residence in the bank. No sooner are Lucy and Mooney sprung from the vault when she carelessly locks the door again while demonstrating how it all happened in the first place.
This is better than Part 1 because Viv and Lucy get to work together doing some of their trademark physical comedy and they harmonize during the scene with the candy commercial jingle. It's refreshing to have the Lucy character sing normally instead of caterwauling for comedic effect - which to me, was never that funny anyway. Gale Gordon's part in this one is largely a monologue and he handles it well.
I hadn't seen this in years and remembered it as having Wally Cox as the safecracker for some reason. Nope - it's longtime Lucy supporting actor Jay Novello and this part is a departure for him - normally he played ethnic stereotypes, Italian waiters, etc.
The candy shop scene is cute, but not one of the ladies' Classic routines. They should have had a few lines about how much fun it must be to make these delicious chocolates - would have been a great in-joke referencing ILL's "Job Switching" episode. But TV wasn't very "meta" back then.
This is the first time Lucy does her trademark wail "Mister MOOOONEY" at the end of an episode - it definitely won't be the last.
