When Phyllis forces Bess to introduce her boyfriend to Mary, he is immediately taken with her. To the point of obsession. There is something sort of spooky about this whole thing. She does go places with him for awhile until she can figure out what to do. This is another of those no-backbone things where she should have nipped it in the bud right there. If nothing else but to protect her reputation and potential societal issues. This whole business of not hurting someone's feelings, even if he's a teenager, could get one in a whole lot of trouble. The kid seems pretty worldly and not really all that nice to others. Sort of a classic sitcom plot that wasn't improved on by this script.

Bess's precocious young beau (played by the prolific Jean-Michel Michenaud) develops a crush on Mary and can't take no for an answer.
The situation is kind of awkward but mostly treated like a joke and the story moves along nicely.
Lou and Phyllis both deliver touching/funny reminiscences adding to the laughs.
