Lou Grant has a bookie and he make modest bets on NFL football games. Murray has a gambling addiction and he just helps pick the games for Lou. Then, one day, Ted wants in. He has no knowledge of football or gambling, but he manages to create a system where he wins every week. But, of course, he doesn't bet. Finally, Lou convinces him to place real bets. He keeps winning and soon talks Lou into joining him. They end the season at the playoffs because those games don't fit his system which involves large point spreads. Lou is winning money but not having a good time. There are two scenes which I won't spoil. Mary in the office. Ted on the balcony at Mary's apartment. Fun episode.

Lou comes in on a successful betting system developed by novice gambler Ted.
Fun episode with a couple of great scenes. I loved Mary's pom-pom girl story. (Early in the series Mary said she was a pom-pom girl. Then she wasn't a pom-pom girl, she was a cheerleader. I guess there is a difference between the two.)
As Murray says, his wife won't let him gamble.
Sportscaster Andy (John Gabriel) has a brief bit. Georgette has a small but funny part.
