Crockett and Tubbs go to the Bahamas
Tweekums11 March 2012
Warning: Spoilers
After the excitement of part one where a hit man was after Crockett and Lt. Rodriguez I wasn't sure if the conclusion to this story might be a bit of a let down; thankfully it was at least as good as part one. Having learnt that Calderone is in The Bahamas Crockett and Tubbs take their boat over to the islands where they have a lead to his location; there is a woman named Angelina that he is close to; wherever she is he isn't likely to be too far away. Once there they check in with the local police then Tubbs sets off the meet Angelina and Crockett impersonates the hit man, hoping that Calderone's local employees won't have met him before. Tubbs manages to get close to Angelina and after spending the night with her learns that Calderone isn't her boyfriend she is her father! Things don't go according to plan and Crockett gets grabbed by Calderone's men so it is up to Tubbs to save the day.

This was a great conclusion to the story with some good action sense including a car chase through a scenic Caribbean city; in fact there was plenty of glorious scenery with the attractive island of St Croix standing in for The Bahamas. It was a nice twist having Angelina be Calderone's daughter and I was pleased that they avoided the cliché of having him accidentally kill her in the final shoot out. Away from the action there were plenty of good scenes; I particularly liked how Crockett demanded more money while pretending to be the hit man and the scenes of them heading out to The Bahamas and their return; it may have just been a shot of a speed boat cutting through the water interspersed with some flashback scenes but it looked cool; and looking cool is what Miami Vice is all about!

Excellent conclusion to this two-parter
DVD_Connoisseur2 March 2007
Directed by Paul Michael Glaser, part 2 of "Calderone's Return" is a solid affair. With a show as stylish as this, there is no "previously on 'Miami Vice'" recap. Instead, we are plunged into the action and pop-video style flashback sequences accompanied by "Voices" from Russ Ballard.

The search for Calderone takes us to Bimini where Tubbs falls for a beautiful woman, Angelina. Tubbs is dealt a cruel twist of fate and is forced to consider what action to take when Crockett's life is placed in danger. Are his loyalties still with Crockett or are his emotions tied up with Angelina? The episode finishes with Tina Turner's "What's Love Got To Do With It?" rather than the usual end music.

Stylish and satisfying, I'd give this episode an 8.

Miami Vice: Calderone's Return Part II
Scarecrow-8822 February 2010
Warning: Spoilers
In this second of a two-parter, Crockett and Tubbs head to St. Andrews Island to hopefully catch Colombian drug dealer Calderone and extradite him back to Miami. Tubbs believes he can get at Calderone through who he perceives to be his mistress, Angelina..it turns out that Angelina is Calderone's daughter and that Tubbs is falling in love with her. Crockett attempts to pass himself off as the Argentinean hit-man hired to kill him in Miami to get a crack at Calderone, not prepared for the fact that St. Andrews Island's chief police officer is under his payroll. This episode was a means to patch up loose ends that were plaguing our detective duo who both lost people important to them thanks to this powerful, ruthless drug-dealer whose operation stretched it's tentacles across the world. Miguel Pinero returns as Calderone, basking in the benefits of selling coke on the streets and removing thorns from his side through the use of violence..he's all smiles, the creep. Phanie Napoli is his daughter, Angelina, who becomes involved with Tubbs adding an interesting melodramatic dilemma to the proceedings. All in all, this episode allows Crockett and Tubbs to settle unfinished business and put to bed a major contributor to their misery. The Virgin Islands location is a nice change of pace for the detectives and there's an exciting chase scene throughout the city as Calderone's thugs follow after Crockett and Tubbs, firing off machine guns at them.

Angelina looks different from surveillance photos
gunship_commander21 September 2018
Brilliant two parter however what's confusing is Angelina. In the beginning of part two when Sonny interrogates suspect by demanding who the people in the surveillance photos with Calderone. One is a tall blonde lass whom Sonny is interested in the suspect says it's Calderones daughter.

However when we do see Calderones daughter she's not blonde and has very short hair and of Caribbean as opposed to what is in the surveillance photos.

Anyone notice ?

Cheers

Unconventional, that's for sure
Mr-Fusion27 October 2016
Warning: Spoilers
"Calderone's Demise" is a decent finish to a big two-parter, but it's tonally different from the first half, and I think that's the main reason it's not as entertaining. Sending Crockett and Tubbs so far away from their jurisdiction helps emphasize their loner situation, and adding in a new love interest for Tubbs muddies the waters, but it's all about mood here. Also if he and Angelina had any chemistry, that'd help.

SPOILERS

Actually, it's funny, Calderone is the whole reason these Vice detectives met in the first place; he's the impetus for the whole show. So to have him reappear as a threat so early on in the first season is a head-scratcher. That feels better suited to a season finale. And Tubbs - who spends the episode nursing old wounds - doesn't even get to end this; someone else does. And then they're back in the speedboat, heading home.

This was a bizarre finish.

Disappointing
mm-3917 October 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Disappointing episode. After all the build up of Calderone part 1, which was pumping tension part 2 can not deliver. A huge slow down, which becomes bogged down with Tubbs romantic side story. Too much environmental story development with the Island footage, and culture etc which is 20 minutes to long. There is story development with Crockett who's macho character steals a few spots, but I keep waiting for something to happen. There is a plot twist and a build up ending, which make Part 2 interesting, but does not save the 2 parter. Part 1 build up need was a hard act to follow for part 2. 4 out of 10 stars.

Calderone's Return: Part 2 - Calderone's Demise
Prismark1027 November 2022
With Crockett and Tubbs heading to the Bahamas. Part 2 of the story promised to be action packed as they head to get Calderone.

Instead this is a moody piece, even introspective.

Luckily the duo meet a helpful barman as soon as they set foot on the island. An American who has been having a fun time in the Bahamas for some years.

Crockett impersonates the hit man Ludovici Armstrong as none of Calderone's local employees have ever seen him.

Tubbs meanwhile investigates a lead. A woman called Angelina who might be a wife or a mistress of Calderone. Instead Tubbs discovers that she is Calderone's daughter and knows nothing about his criminal activities.

Some crooked cops and Crockett's impersonation being futile means there are some action scenes. The duo land in deep water at one point.

The music though blends well with the doleful atmosphere.
