Veteran John Erman directed this hilarious comedy of errors, who at the time was also directing THAT GIRL. You can tell that everyone was having fun with this story.
The center of attention here is Uncle Martin's revolutionary duplicating machine, which promptly turns Tim into two guys; one good and one bad apple. Bill Bixby shows off his acting chops as the scheming "other" Tim, a smooth, calculating con-man who tries to get a fortune from a magazine by selling the story about the machine. Also in the mix is funny Steve Franken, playing Mrs. Brown's nosy nephew, George. He follows the "other" Tim around and messes everything up royal, although everything was messed up to begin with. If that makes sense? Franken was a popular light actor, in scores of tv sitcoms. He had a regular role as Chatsworth Osborne on DOBIE GILLIS for three seasons. He and Bill Bixby work quite well together in this episode as their acting styles were very similar. In color from SEASON 3 EPISODE 15. Note the box set color episodes are more expensive than the first two season black and white episodes, but it does make a big difference, and even the sets look better, particularly Tim and Martin's cool garage apartment.
