Little Miss Marker
zsenorsock5 December 2006
Warning: Spoilers
I think one of the stock stories in fiction is the "Little Miss Marker" story by Damon Runyun where a couple of guys who know nothing about kids are suddenly left with a little girl on their hands. This is "The Rocckford Files" version of the story and the script by Gordon Dawson does the most with what could be a worn concept.

Burt Young, from "The Gang That Couldn't Shoot Straight" and fresh off filming his role in "Rocky" stars as Stu Gaily, who's on the run and leaves his daughter Marin (Kim Richards-- who by the way is now the Aunt of Paris Hilton!) by Jim's trailer with instructions to wait for her aunt. Jim and Rocky discover the lonely little girl and at big hearted Rocky's insistence, take her in until they can find her father and get her home.

Kim Richards was Tia in "Escape to Witch Mountain" and was a regular as Ruthie on "Different Strokes". She does a good job here by not being annoying or getting in the way of a decent Rockford episode. Rocky really shines as basically a doting grandfather. You can see he really enjoys being with Marin. I'm actually surprised he didn't take the opportunity to pitch Jim about settling down and getting married so he'd have grandkids. Garner is strong as always and nobody plays sympathetic lowlife losers much better than Burt Young (except maybe Stuart Margolin as Angel who is good in his brief appearance, such as when he hears there's a reward out for Gaily--"Hey Jimmy, I don't know this guy and $10,000 is $10,000:)

There is also one of the first mentions of Dennis' son Scotty, who would later actually appear in the Rockford reunion movie "Godfather Knows Best" in the mid-1990's.

Much of this episode was shot on location in San Pedro, California.

Little Girl Abandoned
bkoganbing8 April 2013
James Garner and Noah Beery, Jr., are about to go on a fishing trip when Garner finds little Kim Richards on the beach near his trailer. Her dad Burt Young abandoned her when a couple of nasty dudes with weapons were tailing them. Even Rocky kind of melts when Richards says mom has died and daddy has left her with those people chasing him.

It's quite a story involving a dope peddling racket and Drug Enforcement Agency with hard nosed Ken Swofford as the lead investigator chasing Young. But don't believe everything you hear from the guest stars here and that even includes Richards at some points.

Nice enough episode and I think Noah Beery, Jr. gets center stage in this one along with the guest stars. In the end it turns into quite a haul for Joe Santos. Even Stuart Margolin gets briefly into the act when Garner needs his conman skills to nail the bad guys.

All the right ingredients

Warning: Spoilers
The cast alone makes this episode hilarious. The actor that played the gruff father-in-law 'Paulie' of Sylvester Stalone's 'Rocky' movie series? He's here. The girl from 'escape from witch mountain' ? She's here.

So,we do have some talent here. The story is decent,if a little fuzzy. Rockford's dad,Mr Rockford senior usually acts quite a bit more cautiously than he does in this episode, here he senselessly gives away an important bit of info to some dangerous characters. It was irksome to see Rocky carelessly put everyone into a jam,he really blew it in fact, which shows he's only human. 8/10.

Yo Rocky!
mm-3913 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Yo Rocky, Burt Young plays the Pauli character again perfectly. The abandoned girl needs Jim's help. A good story of drugs, with a Starsky and Hutch car. A mystery of why the girl? Who is after the girl? Jim has to play the shell game with the bad guys. Who are the bad guys and the plot twists make for a good ending. Entertaining episode. Not the best of the series. Formulated, but likable. 6 out of 10 stars.

Little GTO
stones7818 December 2014
This episode, which was better the second time I watched it, had beautiful scenery, and an awesome red and white GTO. Sometimes I watch for little details too, and not just the plot, even though the story was very solid as well. The great scenery included nice shots of the beach, pier, and a nice one of Jim and Rocky getting ready to fish, even though they never get to do so. A cool GTO, driven by bad dudes, probably would smoke Jimbo's Firebird, but there's never a car chase. Regarding the story, look for a pre-Rocky(1976)Burt Young on the run from said bad guys. Young was decent in his role, but I felt Kim Richards, who played his daughter, was about average for a child actor. I do enjoy Angel's character, but I feel he wasn't really needed here; Rocky, on the other hand, had many good scenes and is a gentle soul. I almost forgot to add Ken Swofford, who starred in several episodes. To end this review, let me once again add that my favorite aspect was the outdoor shots, and that sweet muscle car.
