Billy is a new students in Petes class thanks to an experimental program to help students who are intelligent but held back by the hand of fate (in other words they are minorities). Billy is a Navajo indian coming to the class at a time when they are discussing the period of the settlers. The other students assume he will be able to give some real insight since he is an Indian. They are good hearted but rather insensitive. There is one that is really cruel however and you wince at some of his insults in today's times (today the word Indian wouldn't even be used he would be called Native American of course). Of all people Jason tries to reach him and get through his bitterness.

Billy Tsosie, a transfer from a Navajo Reservation school finds it hard to fit in at Whitman high.
One of Season3's best. The other students try to talk to Billy about his heritage but some of the comments offend him. Jason tries to be his friend but Billy starts a fight with him. He soon warms up and talks with pride and intelligence about his heritage to the class.
