Pretty racy for it's time!

Warning: Spoilers
Looking back on these episodes of Room 222 fifty years later its amazing the adult issues that they tackled. They must have had problems getting some past the censors at the time. This one deals with the subject of (gasp!) cheerleaders not wearing bras. The show had an earlier episode dealign with school dress codes but it was more lighthearted. Ed Beglley Junior plays a gawky student with a crush on one of the cheerleaders. He gets distracted watching her during a basketball game and gets hit in the mouth. His irate mother blames the dress code and raises hell requiring a pta meeting. Ed Beglley Junior has become one of our more distinguished character actors and he proves his talent here when he makes a speech at the end defending the cheerleaders rights. On a lighter note poor Mister Kaufman tries to get lumber for the basketball court floor and Alice has to deal with the irate cheerleaders (one of them suggests that she go braless! Yikes!)

Stretch And The Cheerleader

Basketball star Stretch Webster gets distracted by bra-less cheerleader Phyllis Nichols.

A pretty good episode. Stretch is played by Ed Begley Jr, he had been in the shows a few times before in different roles. He gets hit in the mouth with a basketball during practice and breaks his braces. His mother blames Phyllis because she wears no bra. Phyllis is played by Angela Cartwright, her second appearance in the show.
