From wild oats to shredded wheat
kevinolzak16 December 2016
"Fred & Carol and Fred & Donna" opens with Donna 'The Barracuda' again cracking Fred's neck to his liking, but not Lamont's. Enter charming saleslady Carol Davis (Kim Hamilton, later seen in "The Older Woman"), recently widowed and working door to door for a living, hitting it off with Fred over a pleasant afternoon. He invites Carol to return for dinner, only to be reminded of that evening's date with Donna, trying to burn the candle at both ends: "just so long as the candle burns...I'm not married, I still gotta sew some wild oats" "Pop, at your age you ain't got no wild oats, you got shredded wheat!" "okay so I got shredded wheat, but I still got a whole lot of snap, crackle and pop left!" Lamont ensures that his father enjoy the company of both women for dinner, with Fred's patented ginger ale mixed with ripple: "I call it champipple!" Lamont's ringside seat makes for one wild night!
