High stakes for big money
kevinolzak9 December 2016
"The Lucky Streak" opens with a telegram asking for a payment of $4000 or lose their interest in the Sanford Arms to another buyer: "I think it's farewell to Arms!" Lamont wonders how they can raise that amount in less than a week, while Fred puts in a high stakes call to 'Bottom of the Deck' Dan (Sonny Jim Gaines, previously Big Money Grip in "Mama's Baby, Papa's Maybe"). Rollo and Bubba join Marvin (Skip Cunningham) and Fred for a foursome, stacking chips in victory till 1:00 AM. Next up is a trip to the race track to build on the initial $600, adding up an additional $1200. Even bigger money awaits in Las Vegas, where the fortune Fred makes results in a $100 donation to Aunt Esther's church, the last cent he had left! Lamont figures they'll still be able to keep the Sanford Arms with a second mortgage, but wonders how his father never gave him a middle name. Fred reveals that Lamont is his middle name: "then what's my first name?" "that's the one we never got around to!" Way back in the third episode ("Here Comes the Bride, There Goes the Bride") we learned that his full name was Lamont Grady Sanford, while Demond Wilson's full birth name name is Grady Demond Wilson.
