Mouse

It looks like a standard episode. There is a mouse in the house.

Hattie keeps watch and likes it for company. She even gives it a name, Tom.

Eric tries to blow smoke in the mouse hole to coax the mouse out. Only for the fire brigade to be called out by the neighbour. Eric gets tips from a fireman about pipe smoking.

It takes a surreal turn as Eric dreams that he and Hattie are mice themselves. Both get attached to Tom.

It is another example of Eric Sykes rather zany approach to comedy. There were scale sets as Eic and Hattie scamper about as mice.

Zany comedy.

Eric is determined to eradicate the resident wild mouse, a mouse that Hatty has named Tom, Eric goes to extreme measures to wipe Tom out, and even dreams about him.

It's a wacky episode, it is one with a few chuckles, but it's definitely not a classic, it's a little too run of the mill for that.

There are a couple of amusing sequences, the scene with the pipe and fireman was quite amusing, and perhaps the most amusing segment.

This was went surreal very quickly, that dream sequences was something else, did it work? I'm not too sure, possibly a little too zany, the set was definitely well designed however.

It wasn't all that long ago that I watched this series, I had totally forgotten this one, that says it all.

6/10.
