He's just wild about Eadie
kapelusznik1829 July 2016
***SPOILERS*** In being the "Black Sheep" of the Mercer Family Steve played by Christopher Dark-The name fits him-never shows up on time at his father Alfred Mercer's, Parley "Rolly Polly" Bear, candy factory as a lowly paid at $60.00 a week phone answering operator. It's fellow candy worker Eadie Starr, Carolyn Jones, that Steve has the absolute hots for and wants her to take off with him for parts unknown to start a new life as Mr & Mrs. Steve Mercer. The problem in all this is that Eadie is gangster Marty Hinton's, John Doucette, moll or personal squeeze and Steve risks getting himself killed if Marty ever finds out what he's up to!

Marty a bootlegger, besides mobster, by trade plans to us the Mercer Candy Company to supply him with tons of sugar for his booze or bootlegging operation with the love sick-For Eadie- Steve helping him out on his criminal venture. It's soon when Steve's dad Mr. Mercer finds out that Steve is involved with the mob that he threatens to turn him over to the police for his own good. That's before the mob and it's boss Marty Hilton whacks him to keep him quite if he's ever caught by the police and makes a deal with them!

***SPOILERS****Under file #4574 of the Alcohol & Tobacco Agency this story straight from the horse's or Chief's, Walter Greaza, mouth doesn't quite, in showing that's it's true and not made up, have an happy ending. With the Feds busting Steve just before he himself is knocked off by Marty with Steve and his girlfriend Eadie ending up doing long stretches behind bars. The wonderful future that Steve envisioned for himself and Eadie wouldn't have turned out this way if only he didn't get involved in Marty's bootlegging operations in order to impress Eadie. And by Steve doing that he proved what his Dad always said about him that he'll never amount to anything and very probably end up behind bars!
