Groans and gowns

Patty has fallen for a new boy in school, Woodrow Warren Caldwell III (Dan Ferrone). "Woody" comes from high society, and Patty finds herself in a cultured battle of attraction against her nemesis Sue Ellen Turner (Kitty Sullivan). They both get in good graces with his mother, Mrs. Caldwell (30s/40s actress Dorothy Peterson, "Dark Victory", "Saboteur", in her final role) by helping out at her thrift shop. Richard is upset to be cast aside yet again. Sue Ellen's parents hold a fundraising formal party to raise money for Mrs. Caldwell's thrift shop. Patty is invited and decides to buy a nice dress donated to the thrift shop. When she arrives at the party she finds the dress was Sue Ellen's old formal dress. That revelation may have a more positive impact than she expected, however, and she soon makes her own revelation.
