I am an avid fan of Rhoda. I've watched Brenda go from a shy young woman to a more put together and confident woman. This episode is great because Marty Davidson treats Brenda like she deserves to be treated. He compliments her, brings flowers and wines and dines her. He is more mature and sophisticated than the men Brenda usually dates. It's too bad that the writers made Brenda love Marty but not be in love with him. Marty treated Brenda with respect, he listened to her and he was more able to see Brenda as a person than other people Brenda dated, namely Benny. He offered her. Different world. Benny was not very worldly, wasn't ambitious and wasn't intelligent...as the writers wrote him. Too bad Marty could not hang around a little longer. It would have been fun to see Brenda grow as his friend or girlfriend.
