Netflix subscribers only have until the end of February to watch Harrison Ford’s U.S. president tell Gary Oldman’s terrorist to “get off my plane!”
Wolfgang Petersen’s Air Force One, which also stars Glenn Close, is set to depart the streaming service at the end of the month.
Also leaving on Feb. 28, is Scream 4, less than two weeks before Hayden Panettiere’s Kirby Reed returns to the horror franchise in Scream 6.
And March 1 will see Netflix lose acclaimed indies Sorry to Bother You, written and directed by Boots Riley and starring Lakeith Stanfield as a telemarketer; the Wall Street drama Margin Call; and Jennifer Aniston starrer Cake.
Earlier this month, Netflix will drop the 2015 action rom-com Mr. Right, starring Sam Rockwell as an assassin and Anna Kendrick as the woman who falls for him.
The streamer is also saying goodbye to stand-up specials from Zach Galifianakis and Bert Kreischer.

In February 2023, Netflix will remove a bunch of movie and TV series from its library,
Netflix UK and Netflix US takes down numerous titles each month without fanfare, meaning that many things on your watchlist could suddenly disappear.
These removals are due to licencing deals coming to an end. Often, the titles make their way back to Netflix in the following year, but sometimes they leave to go to other platforms.
This month sees a selection of Netflix Originals being taken down, also.
To minimise surprise, we have put together a comprehensive list of everything being removed in both Netflix UK and US.

Production on Season 2 of the show starts next February in Vancouver. “‘Gabby Duran & The Unsittables’ gives us a bold new heroine, brought to life by the incredibly talented Kylie Cantrall and our top-notch creative team led by showrunners Mike Alber and Gabe Snyder,” said Kory Lunsford, Disney Channel’s vice president of current series.
Alber and Snyder (“Kirby Buckets”) executive produce with Joe Nussbaum (“Just Add Water”).
“We like to do comedy with a high-concept hook to it,” Alber said.

Ebonnie Masini and Rian McLean in 'Round the Twist' (1989), Australian Children's Television Foundation
Australian children.s TV may have recently picked up an Emmy Kids award for the Abcme animation Doodles, but otherwise kids. TV in this country is in a dire state.
Free-to-air TV networks have to commission certain amounts of children.s programs each year. But in recent years there.s been a dismaying lack of new live action shows, or recognisably Australian content. Instead, local children.s TV has become dominated by animation with little sense of place.
This is a shame, because Australia.s most fondly remembered children.s TV shows are live action productions such as Mortified, Playschool, Blue Water High, and Round the Twist. When asked in a 2015 survey to name their favourite childhood TV characters, most people chose Round the Twist siblings Linda and Bronson, followed by Mortified.s Taylor Fry.

Pj Vogt, co-host of the popular Gimlet Media podcast Reply All, went on vacation; when he got back, he had a movie deal. The January 19 program, “Man of the People,” had been optioned by Annapurna Pictures, with Richard Linklater directing and Robert Downey, Jr. as producer and star.
“It’s absolutely surreal,” Vogt said.
“Man of the People” profiled John Brinkley, the radio pioneer and medical salesman whose self-proclaimed miracle cures ranged from impotence to infertility. Vogt said he stumbled on the story after visiting his cousins in Texas.
“They were saying I should move there because they were a bunch of radio stations hidden in ranches,” he said. “For a while, we thought it was going to be a story about border blasters.”
Instead he found the strange tale of Brinkley, one that also encompasses a state governor’s race, the national popularization of country music, and the rise of the American Medical Association.

It's time! To face! The swimming pools and perfectly kept lawns! It's always been our favourite phase of The X Factor and now the glorified game of musical chairs is mercifully over, this weekend sees the surviving 24 acts jet off to Judges' Houses.
Or Judges' Pretend Houses, as we prefer to call it, as they tend to be rented residences. You don't think Cowell and co would let the oiks into their real homes, do you?
There are opulent interiors and guest mentors. Tension gets eked out and tear-sodden hugs get issued. Someone always wears unwise shorts. Someone else dives into a pool with their clothes on. This year, there's even a ghost. We can't wait. But while we do, let's rewind the all-time highlights from Judges' Houses…

Having effectively thrown a spanner into the platformer rulebook with Octodad: Dadliest Catch, Just Add Water has cooked up something entirely different this time around in partnership with Bossa Studios: I am Bread.
Charting the timeless struggle of a piece of bread trying its utmost to make it as a slice of toast, I am Bread wears its wholly bonkers premise proudly for all to see, and with Bossa’s previous experience including the equally insane Surgeon Simulator, fans of atypical platformers should know what they’re getting into ahead of time.

It’s fair to say as a gamer I was Very late to the joys of a Sony-made console. I didn’t own a Playstation until the release of the smaller form-factor PSOne, which coincided with the launch of the PS2. But that didn’t stop me from voraciously collecting and playing a whole heap of original Playstation titles, in fact it helped that I was so behind – it meant that games were often a lot cheaper, especially given how many people seemingly traded their PSOne titles in order to upgrade to the next-gen. It was the fact that games were cheaper that led me to take chances on games and genres I normally wouldn’t; and that’s how I discovered Abe’s Oddysee.
Well now, almost 20 years after the original game was released, Abe has returned to consoles and in particular for this review, the Xbox One, with Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty.

I generally pay as much attention to the broadcast network development season as I do to the baseball draft. Though the shows that actually survive development are much closer to airing chronologically than most baseball draftees are to the majors, the winnowing process is just as brutal in both cases. On average, a given network will hear 3-400 pitches a year, order scripts for 60-70 of them, make 8-12 pilots and put roughly between a half dozen and a dozen of them on the air. So I’ve usually found development not worth worrying about until shows are actually ordered to series and scheduled. That said, it’s been tough to ignore this fall’s development season, where it seems like every day for the past few weeks, my Twitter feed has blown up a few times an afternoon with news of a familiar movie or TV property being adapted...

Growing up, owning a video game console was a matter of strategy. You had to figure out which friends held onto their Nintendos, which cousins were rich enough to own a Sega, and which platform had the types of games you wanted. For me, the choice was easy: PlayStation, far and away the only console I wanted as a kid. I was raised on a healthy diet of Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, Crash Bandicoot and Spyro among others, but for all my love of the system, I never gave Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee a chance. However, 17 years after that game’s release, Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty! has rolled around to give me an opportunity to replay a missed classic.
With a polished remake lovingly crafted by developers Just Add Water, I honestly can’t compare New ‘n’ Tasty to the original from nostalgic memories since I had no experience...

It’s been quite a year in gaming so far, what with the likes of South Park: The Stick of Truth, Titanfall, Infamous: Second Son, Watch Dogs and Mario Kart 8 being released to solid-to-strong acclaim, but we’re now entering what is traditionally known as the summer drought period for games, as people actually venture outside and do things other than sit inside playing video games (though you lucky Ps Vita owners can make the best of a boring family BBQ by using the Remote Play feature).
With so many games recently delayed until an indeterminate period in 2015 and the dust beginning to settle from E3, we have a crystal-clear picture moving forward of what the remainder of 2014 holds for us, and boy, it’s a doozy.

Luke Mitchell appreciates that he has landed roles far more easily than most actors. Mitchell, who plays John Young in The CW's "The Tomorrow People," airing Wednesdays, had planned on becoming a pro tennis player.
This wasn't just a kid's dream in the "I want to be a cowboy or astronaut" category. Mitchell played tennis competitively and comes from a very athletic family. His brother, Ben, is a world-ranked tennis player.
When Mitchell quit, he haphazardly found acting.
"I never did drama at school," Mitchell tells Zap2it in his native Australian accent. "I did it for one term, when it was compulsory, and I hated it. Tennis was the main thing in my life, and I was not open to anything else. When I removed tennis from the equation, I didn't know who I was."
Mitchell, who describes himself as shy, retains the athlete's determination to push himself out of his comfort zone.

Editor’s Note: I met Sean Williams at Comic-Con’s Hall H between panels on the first day of the Con this past July, chatting as people do. It turns out that Sean is a filmmaker, and he’s working on a sci-fi project – travel to another planet! strong women! – that sounds really great.
Last week Sean let me know that he was ready to start “officially” talking about the project, and wanted to know what I’d like to know. I told him I wanted to know, basically, everything. How the project got started, who’s involved, where he is in the process, etc. What follows is the narrative he wrote up on the spot on his phone and sent to me via Facebook Messenger in response. One long narrative that was completely engaging. He even copied and inserted biographies as he went along. It’s no wonder the man has won writing awards.

Allison Williams plays the ultra-uptight Marnie on HBO's "Girls," but the 25-year-old actress seems like she's way more fun to hang around in real life, judging by these photos from her college improv comedy troupe, Just Add Water.
Williams even told her college paper, the Yale Daily News, that the "best decision" she made at school was to audition for the troupe.
"Again and again, improv proves to be the most profitable skill that I have. Part of my audition for 'Girls' was doing an improvised scene with Lena [Duham] that lasted maybe ten minutes. If I hadn’t been doing improv for the four years that I was at Yale, I would have been completely unequipped to handle the scene," she explained.

Just Add Water's "Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty" -- an HD remake of 1997's "Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee" -- is coming to the Wii U and PlayStation 4, but not the Xbox 360 or One. Why?
"At the business level, Microsoft isn’t acknowledging people like us,” Oddworld Inhabitants boss and industry long-timer Lorne Lanning says. “It’s as if we don’t matter.”
Back during E3, Just Add Water announced that "Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty" was concept approved to be on Xbox Live Arcade: Microsoft has signed off on the game if the debs find a retail publisher or distribution partner. Oddworld Inhabitants doesn't qualify because they only publish digital games.
The "Oddworld" devs have had similar problems with their HD remasters of "Munch's Oddysee" and "Stranger's Wrath." Those remakes have been released on PlayStation Network but are nowhere to be found on Xbox Live Arcade, despite being original Xbox titles.

Kojima has noted that he wants to find somebody to help remake the original Metal Gear Solid, and possibly the two first Metal Gear titles. Well he might have just mentioned it quickly, but other studios are highly interested.
One studio has sent Kojima a letter explainin why they are the perfect studio to do the job. Just Add Water has expressed interest, they are the developer behind Oddworld: Strangers Wrath HD remakes.
The letter is as follows:
"We at Just Add Water feel ideally positioned to do the remake justice for several reasons:
1: We have experience working with legendary IP (Oddworld Inhabitants) and treating the subject matter with the respect it deserves.
2: Many members of our team are huge Metal Gear fans, with very good knowledge of the source material.
3: We really, really want to do it."

Just Add Water, the British studio developing a handful of Oddworld Inhabitants projects, are the first studio to publicly throw their names into Hideo Kojima's hat following yesterday's news that he was actively seeking third-party developers to remake "Metal Gear Solid" using the Fox Engine.
Kojima explained that parts of "Metal Gear Solid" would need to be updated and modernized, especially since he would want the hypothetical project to use Kojima Productions' proprietary Fox Engine. What's funny is that this is, uh, pretty much exactly what Just Add Water are doing to "Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey."
Here's the bulk of their open letter to Kojima:

Netflix continues to ramp up its post-SpongeBob/Dora kids offerings. A week after sealing a huge deal with DreamWorks Animation for original content, the subscription service has inked an exclusive distribution pact for Mako Mermaids — a spinoff of the Australian teen drama H20: Just Add Water, which is a worldwide hit in syndication and is available on Netflix. All 26 half-hour episodes of Mermaids, from Jonathan M. Shiff Prods., will premiere July 26 in the Us and the streaming service’s other territories. The series centers on teenage Zac, who is camping on Mako Island and is secretly watched by three young mermaids tasked with guarding the isle. After an encounter with magical water, he becomes a fish-tailed merman, causing problems for the mermaids. The news comes less than a month after the expiration of Netflix’s content deal with Viacom — whose programming now streams exclusively on Amazon’s service — and...

The CW has long been one of the best supporters of Our Kind of Shows, and at this year’s Upfronts they put even more money where our hearts are. Of the six new shows announced for the fall and winter schedule, four are for us: The Originals, The Tomorrow People, The 100, and Star-Crossed. Now of course more than one has that trademark The CW soap opera-ish spin on it, but hey, not Every show is for every one of us.
Here to assist in our prejudging are synopses for all, via Deadline, and maybe even better, clips and/or TV spots. There’s not really anything new for The Originals, but fans will want to see it all again anyway. The Tomorrow People features the wonderful Mark Pellegrino so it’s my favorite of the four.

Sony’s PlayStation 4 reveal last week brought with it a massive list of 96 companies that were said to be currently developing games for the company’s upcoming next generation console. The list originally included 53 European studios, however, Sony has now issued a revision that cuts that number by almost half.
Interestingly, none of the European studios that were on the original list are on the updated roster. Sony’s only explanation for the revision was to say that the first list was “erroneous”.
The updated list contains a total of 28 studios from Europe, and is now missing some key players, such as; Mojang (the studio behind the incredibly successful Minecraft), Frozenbyte, Criterion Games (Burnout/Nfs), Rovio (Angry Birds), and City Interactive.
While the missing studios are slightly concerning, now is not the time for the Sony faithful to panic. The updated list has some impressive additions, and outside of Europe...

I guess the saying “better late than never” was created for this scenario, huh? It’s been about two years since developers Just Add Water announced the HD remake of Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee, and the company has recently stated that the game will finally see a release towards the end of the month. Christmas comes a little early for our European friends, as a release is scheduled for December 19th across the pond. The North American launch will be coming sometime in “late December.”
The Xbox launch title is by no means the best game in the Oddworld series, but it’s far from a bad title. An HD remake and a Playstation port is music to any fan’s ears, and after a few cancellation scares, it’s fantastic to hear that the remake will finally see the light of day. North American gamers are looking at a $9.99 price tag for the release.

Perhaps you hadn't heard, but a new console launched this week. While Jason broke down the latest machine that you put games in and found it worthy, it's of course up to the wider gaming public to make their voices known as to whether they're into what Nintendo's putting out there this year.
Also: more video games are out this week that don't involve a touchpad.

I've heard some grousing about the Wii U launch lineup, but it's certainly no worse than when the PS3 or 360 launched. Of course, Nintendo didn't deluge us with first-party support (and it's not looking better for much of the launch window), but a handful of new third-party games and ports should tide over new Wii U gamers throughout the holiday season. The Secret Circle‘s Phoebe Tonkin shows up in Mystic Falls this Thursday (The CW, 8/7c) as Hayley, a werewolf who helped Tyler free himself from Klaus’ mental chains. As a result, she and the hybrid have shared quite the traumatic experience, which might spell trouble for Tyler’s current romance.

A Eurogamer Expo reveal, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee New N' Tasty! is the name of the HD remake of the 1997 PSOne game from developer Just Add Water.
Discussing the remake with Eurogamer, Just Add Water's Stewart Gilray laid out some of the planned updates for New N' Tasty! including revamped lighting and an adjusted camera system which will keep keep up with Abe's movements across the screen given that the action is no longer framed in the boxy 4:3 style. Speaking of the action, about 80-90% of the platformer's puzzles will remain intact along with its level design, with some changes in place to accommodate the removal of the flip screen.
The remake will also include new 3D graphics, giving the game what Just Add Water describes as a "retro neo approach" to the visuals. The new look has been applied to the FMVs from the original, which are now...

If you were a fan of The CW’s single season The Secret Circle then you’re familiar with Phoebe Tonkin, who played bad girl teen witch Faye in a beautifully scheming greedy way. She was terrific as a girl with powers, and she was terrific at being, err, witchy, so it seems like a no brainer to want to add her to another supernatural show that has its share of unpleasant characters.
Beginning with episode 3 of the upcoming Season 4, she’ll be playing Hayley, “a wild, sexy and very free-spirited friend with whom Tyler (Michael Trevino) shares a past,” according to TV Guide, which may prove to be trouble for Tyler/Caroline (Candice Accola) relationship.
Showrunner Julie Plec spoke about the character recently, telling TVLine, “Any time a hot, new girl comes to town, somebody’s got to be worried about something. But Tyler and Caroline have a really solid bond,...

It's about to get even sexier in Mystic Falls (if that's even possible). Phoebe Tonkin has officially been cast on The Vampire Diaries.
According to TVGuide, The Secret Circle alum will play Hayley, a sexy and free-spirited friend from Tyler's (Michael Trevino) past who will come between him and girlfriend Caroline (Candice Accola). Tonkin's first appearance will be in the third episode of season 4.
What does that mean for Forwood fans? Nothing good, I'm sure. At least we know that Klaus (Joseph Morgan) will have probably vacated Tyler's body by then. Just in time for him to swoop in and charm Caroline some more.
Tonkin is good friends with Tvd actress and fellow Aussie Claire Holt with whom she worked with on H20: Just Add Water.
What do you think about this casting?
The Vampire Diaries returns Oct. 11 at 8 p.m. on The CW.

Recently, there has been a renewed interest in the ‘Oddworld’ in which Abe resides, which has lead to various projects based upon the classic franchise emerging from the depths. One such project, an Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee game in development by Just Add Water, has recently been revealed to have taken the dangerous leap from a HD reskin to a full remake.
This change was revealed through a post made on the Oddworld Inhabitants Facebook page, which reads:
“Ok, so here’s the skinny on Oddworld: Abe’s Oddysee We decided to reboot it, not just an HD update to the original PSone title, this is a new game. It will be getting it’s first public showing later this year, with a release date of next summer (2013).”
Following this post, Stewart Gilray (part of the development team behind the project) told VG247:

With E3 happening all around us and the gaming press being drowned in the unrelenting onslaught of news that comes with the event, it’s often easy to miss other news stories that happen outside of the convention. I had to find time out away from the glamour and glitz of the L.A. expo to report the news that people need right now! So brace yourselves people because,
Oddworld: Abe’s Oddyssee is getting a reboot.
Originally the title was set to get a simple HD remake and remastering of the original PS1 title, much like Just Add Water did with Stranger’s Wrath. This however seems to be off the table in favour of creating a brand new game. Posted onto the Oddworld Inhabitants Facebook page it stated,

In an interview on the Official PlaySatation Blogcast, Just Add Water CEO Stewart Gilray confirmed that a Ps Vita version of Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath is on the way with an expected release as early as late June.
Gilray explained a few new control tweaks due to the lack of buttons on the Vita. You'll switch from first to third-person by double-tapping the front screen, and you'll perform punches and spin attacks by tapping the rear touch pad. You can also zoom the sniper scope in to varying degrees by pinching the screen, rather than stick to the two levels of zoom in the console version.
Development on the Vita version started only five weeks ago, but Gilray explained that the guy in charge of the transition "was surprised how quickly he managed to get things going.” It's expected to be in beta around E3.
