A nice addition to the film...

"A Day to Remember: A Conversation with Ken Annakin" is a video extra that was included with the DVD release of "The Longest Day" (1962) by Twentieth-Century Fox. It consists of Ken Annakin, one of the directors of the film, discussing his recollections of the project. While it was all pretty interesting, I though his talking about how he was forced to use Producer Darryl Zanuck's mistress in the film was more intriguing! However, the rest of the recollections about the film were very welcome. Interestingly, this film was made when Annakin was in his early 90s--and he was still very spry. He died just a just a few short years later. So, it's wonderful that someone went to the trouble to record all this before it was lost. Not a brilliant but still a very welcome addition to the DVD set--and one that is well worth seeing.
