On Tool Time, Tim and Al demonstrate safety precautions when operating a giant jackhammer. In this case, wearing protective ear muffs to drown out the noise. Al's work only too well as he can't hear Tim's instructions with them on...or can he? As Tim uses this opportunity to put down his pal, Al plugs in the machine prematurely and gives Tim quite a jolt. At home, Jill is packing some books into a trunk, because in her eyes, making one trip is easier than two. Unfortunately her small brain can't comprehend the weight of a trunk filled with books, but I guess that's because she doesn't plan on being the one who lifts it. Tim peruses through the trunk and comes across several of Jill's sappy romance novels. You know, the kind women get so they can fantasize about having a better love life than one that is realistically possible in the real world? Anyway, time to lift that big case of literature up onto the shelf in the garage. Is Tim up to the task? Sure, after Jill goads him into it. He manages to carry it into the garage, but stops short after feeling a very sharp, painful sensation from his inner thigh. Turns out he'd pulled his groin. His very favorite muscle. He decides not to tell Jill and live with it as best he can. Ooh, this should be funny.
Due to Tim's pain, he tells Al he'll have to do all the work. So what else is new? On today's episode of Fool Time, they're going to be mixing concrete. Well, one thing leads to another, Tim makes a crack about the cookies Al brought in tasting like cement, and when he says his mother made them, Tim makes another crack about hoping she's dating a dentist. The result is Al tossing a bag of cement his way. Serves him right. At home, Randy had been selected to play Peter Pan in the school play, and yes, the costume includes tights. Randy is dismayed because this version of Peter Pan doesn't fly, due to the school lacking the proper equipment, but rather now, he prances like a fruit. Tim puts the kibosh on that and insists on building the proper flying apparatus. Then, Jill comes home and Tim is about to come clean about his groin pull, until she tells him it really turned her on...uh oh. Something tells me Tim's groin is about to REALLY burn...especially when Jill makes him carry her as if they're newly weds crossing the threshold. Fortunately, Tim can use that as an excuse to make his groin pain known. It worked like a charm... until mama's boy Mark let the truth slip out. In retribution for being played like a harp, Jill pours a ton of ice down Tim's pants. My guess is he should get used to that feeling. After a talk with Wilson, Tim learns he doesn't need to compete with all the fake Fabio knock-offs in Jill's books, because he's already a great lover. He puts up with Jill, so he's definitely a strong one. Anyway, time to test out the flying apparatus he designed for Randy's play. Unfortunately, his sons are no help, Mark waiting for the ice cream truck and Randy moaning over the fact that Peter Pan has always been played on stage by girls. But finally, Tim manages to achieve flight. They "fly" him up to the bedroom window for a heart-to-heart with Jill. Just as Tim gets the hang of his aerodynamics, the ice cream truck finally shows up and...well, the bigger they are, the harder they fall. Fortunately, Tim gets out of the hospital in time to see Randy's play. He was a big hit. The effort had all been worth it, both the play AND Tim's injuries. All of them.
I think many men can relate to Tim's situation here. Groin pain can not only be extremely painful, it can make you feel like less of a man. It was really annoying seeing Jill goading Tim into lifting that trunk. I'm only glad her friend Karen wasn't in this episode. I imagine Tim's groin would've hurt even more. And this is the episode where Randy plays Peter Pan. The situation over his character not flying--before Tim steps in of course--makes me wonder if schools are applying that method now. You know how scared and frightened the public schools are of being sued now adays...for ANYTHING. I wonder if any schools that put on productions of Peter Pan prohibit flying? I don't know if they do, and I know safety wasn't an issue in Randy's school originally nixing flying, I'm just wondering is all. I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case in some fledgling school districts who bend over backwards to avoid frivolous law suits. It makes me sick. But anyway, I liked Groin Pains, and I think Tim did get what he deserved in two scenes...both by Al's hands, which was gratifying. Unfortunately, he never seems to learn from any of his mistakes. So by all means, check out Groin Pains, and remember, DON'T try this at home: both lifting heavy objects AND flying.
