Pure magic
trygve_pettersen18 February 2007
This movie really blew me away.

It's a short movie about two men who meet in the mountains. Kjell is the father of one of Arilds childhood friends. They haven't seen each other for a long time, and controversy from the past comes up to surface during their unexpected meeting.

Bjørn Sundquist has played a lot of these types of characters. He's almost been type-casted as a threatening character with an evil eye, but he still manages to portrait Kjell in an extremely successful way. He is believable and very unsettling. Anders Baasmoe Christiansen does an equally good job as Arild. Arild is a polite and mild mannered man who is not used to direct confrontations, Baasmoe Christansen does a superb job of expressing this side of Arilds personality with humor, warmth and makes him a very realistic and believable character.

The dialog is well written and very well performed. I can't remember the last time I saw such great acting in a Norwegian movie, and that's not because I don't like Norwegians movies, but because this movie displays movie acting of the very best kind. This is true move magic. The movies duration of 10 minutes seemed like 2 minutes.

The plot is hardly original, but that really doesn't matter. The intense atmosphere makes up for it. The way I see this is a movie about guilt and coming to terms with actions and difficult elements from your past. The movie can be understood on different levels, it's a great piece of movie-making either way.

This is a must-see, I was truly mesmerized.

Please excuse my poor written English, I hate myself for it.
