This was easily the worst episode of the season.
Please stop with the dead people talking to Gibbs thing. This one one so over the top, I thought it was going to end with a Bones-like twist where Gibbs had a brain tumour. That was the only reason I kept watching (there was a twist, though it was something different). But even with an acceptable explanation, the story was terrible,
As for the ending... great to have Ziva back. I thought we were going to have to wait longer for the payoff of the Ziva-setup (until next season), but we're seeing it now. Does Tony know she's alive? So many questions.
Of course, we're assuming she is alive. I know other commentators have insisted she's real and not another ghost/imaginary figure, but... are we sure? Bishop hasn't actually seen Ziva directly - she only read a note. What if Gibbs has gone all Beautiful Mind, and wrote the note to Bishop himself? Brain tumour?
Just putting the idea out there - don't hate on me for it. I think she's real. I certainly hope Ziva is really alive, and that she and Tony (and their daughter) can live happily ever after. Not sure Michael Weatherly will want to come back to play Tony for a guest episode (he may want the character behind him).
Anyway, the fact that I have a spark of excitement in speculating these things is what saved the episode. If it was a good ep as well, I could have given it 9 or 10/10 as others have. I think those reviewers are putting too much weight on the final scene. Unfortunately, I can't do that - the main story of the episode just wasn't good enough.
