Great finale!

Warning: Spoilers
Yeah Yeah. To all the one-Star hater. This ghost-wife story was not the best. I can confirm that. But it made sense within the Fornell Storyline. I liked the scene with Gibbs and Fornell on the couch; and Fornell asks Gibbs for his wife's advice.

And Ziva! Hurray! AND NO she´s not a ghost. Even Bishop knows she is alive. See the Zivas Cabin episodes!!! It wasn't a surprise that Zivas is coming back for a guest-visit.

Guess who's back?????

Warning: Spoilers
Don't read my review unless you've seen the episode "Daughters". FBI guy Tobias Fornell wants Leroy Jethro Gibbs' help in taking down some drug dealers after Fornell's daughter Emily nearly dies from a drug overdose. Their mutual ex-wife Diane (who had been shot in the forehead in a previous episode) haunts Gibbs and then Fornell, especially Gibbs. She tells the latter to get off his dead end and help Fornell. Turns out, Emily Fornell is a drug addict. Gibbs finally gets his act in gear. This was a good enough episode. It got even better. Here comes the spoiler. Were you as surprised as me when Ziva David walks down the staircase while Gibbs is working on his latest boat (how on earth is he going to get it out of the basment?) and tells him that he's in danger? I can hardly wait for the next season. I'm sure that Ziva can explain how she managed to survive a mortar attack at her farmhouse in the Israeli countryside? Because that attack had been orchestrated by the evil CIA guy Trent Kort. Next season coming up. Welcome back Ziva David, and to the actress who plays her, Cote de Pablo. It's been a long time coming.

Culmination of a superb season with a fantastic episode
fugate_football22 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This season has been phenomenal, even for the best show on TV. The finale was nothing short of spectacular. Gibbs' personal problems came to a head in a way that bind him and Fornell even closer together, despite their differences. Joe Spano turned in the best acting job of the season. The whole season came together in such a way that we really see the point of it all. Gibbs is making tough decisions -- has been all his life -- but lately he's been forced to examine how those decisions affect others more than ever before. And this episode was the perfect way to see his character development in a microcosm. I can only imagine where this leads, especially considering what happened at the end.

By the way, what Gibbs said at the very end was "Ziver", his pet name for Ziva. And the use of a term of endearment leads me to believe that she's very much not an apparition and Gibbs knows it. But we'll see.

Undeniably, the best episode ever.

I was right! I was right!! I was right!!!

*Commences dancing for joy like Diona Reasonover.*

The writers almost fooled me into thinking I had deluded myself. But, I was right, all along. Ziva David--as played by the inimitable Cote de Pablo--did return as part of a season-ending cliff-hanger. The only remaining questions being: how did she survive that Kort-engineered attack on her Israeli hide-away? And does the danger she so abruptly barged in, to warn Gibbs about, have anything to do with that Canadian pill-pusher the renegade hospital pharmacist was worried about?

The answer to both, of course, will only come next fall.

On a lighter note? I loved the plot twist involving Emily Fornell's dream. It almost makes me wish the episode could have been entitled "Touched By An Ex-wife From Hell!" But, I'm glad they didn't.

It wouldn't have looked right for Roma Downey to sue Belisarius and CBS.

This show still has it...
darkthunder8423 May 2019
Approaching late teens in terms of show length, this show still has it.

Enjoyed the season finale immensely, and was floored by the revelation in the final scene. Hopefully the return is made permanent in Season 17.

As for people like doug2go, b*tching about things like Pride seeing ghosts on NCIS:NOLA (considering the character actually DIED and was brought back to life, this is hardly surprising). Gibbs has seen ghosts repeatedly long before this season. After his former mentor Mike Franks was killed, Gibbs still saw Franks off and on in ghost-form. Can't recall him thinking he was losing his mind back then, but the fact remains that he did see ghosts.

And then there's that 200 episode, where Gibbs is damn near killed in his own diner, and has a lengthy conversation with Franks, and even encounters multiple deceased characters such as Jenny, and even Ari (Ziva's half-brother, who killed Kate).

So don't give me that bull about this being some NCIS:NOLA to NCIS conspiracy, with Gibbs "suddenly" seeing ghosts. It's not new.

Glad I Stayed
mumbeecee22 May 2019
Spent the evening yelling at the TV "This is over the top even for you, Fornell." The last scene made it all worth while. Have to check my script source tomorrow as the last word was unintelligible. That's OK. Still worth it.

Best episode yet
jdennis-7081128 May 2019
Gibbs was spiraling out of control because that judge had Gibbs's file of him killing Pedro Hernandez. I am glad he spoke to Dr Grace about it. Gibbs has seen ghosts before (Mike Franks). Nothing like Supernatural.

Now since he was obviously seeing his dead ex-wife Diane, then is Gibbs seeing a ghost in Ziva? I think not. We heard the door open and her coming down the stairs. It has to do with the name that the pharmacist wrote on the paper but we don't know who that is yet. How Ziva is tied into it is beyond me unless it has something to do with Ari or Eli or Gibbs family. People who think that this show has gone down hill, I'll pray for you. Season 17!!!

Can agree with some viewers

Warning: Spoilers
This was a pretty ridiculous and far fetched episode in large parts. BOTH Gibbs and Fornell having lively loud conversations with a dead woman? Over the top in my opinion. Most of the episode is a 6-rating at best...BUT! Those last minutes of the episode is just amazing for long time fans. No guns, no explosions, deaths, but a great cliffhanger none the less.

So this season has been a bit pants. Full stories, plain acting, no shock or amazing stuff. Until the last scene... Ziva!! I always thought it was odd that her body was never found. Here's hoping she'll be more permanent in the future. She's signed up for 4 eps in the next season but maybe the next one... maybe a Tony return too (since Bull is turning a bit pants now)... or maybe a spin off with the two of them, secret undercover spies or something.

Yay ziva!!! Not sure about the writing for this season. Found it week and the cast talent a bit lost for dirextion. Still not sure why they cast Torres on this series. But seeing ziva is great. She was and still is the core of the show. Complete with dinozzo of course (whose bull series is just that....) So bring back the two..bello is okay. Wickersam too.

Disappointing.

Warning: Spoilers
When it comes to "Daughters" it's an okay season finale. The story was not as emotional or intriguing as the writers thought it was. The acting was not strong and the ghost of Diane was not the best idea for me. In fact, some of the dialogue between Fornell, Gibbs and her was just off, but the fact that Ziva's back is certainly making me to watch the next season of NCIS.

Overall, an okay episode.

2/10 for the A-story, but 9/10 for the ending
kirk-913-6721591 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This was easily the worst episode of the season.

Please stop with the dead people talking to Gibbs thing. This one one so over the top, I thought it was going to end with a Bones-like twist where Gibbs had a brain tumour. That was the only reason I kept watching (there was a twist, though it was something different). But even with an acceptable explanation, the story was terrible,

As for the ending... great to have Ziva back. I thought we were going to have to wait longer for the payoff of the Ziva-setup (until next season), but we're seeing it now. Does Tony know she's alive? So many questions.

Of course, we're assuming she is alive. I know other commentators have insisted she's real and not another ghost/imaginary figure, but... are we sure? Bishop hasn't actually seen Ziva directly - she only read a note. What if Gibbs has gone all Beautiful Mind, and wrote the note to Bishop himself? Brain tumour?

Just putting the idea out there - don't hate on me for it. I think she's real. I certainly hope Ziva is really alive, and that she and Tony (and their daughter) can live happily ever after. Not sure Michael Weatherly will want to come back to play Tony for a guest episode (he may want the character behind him).

Anyway, the fact that I have a spark of excitement in speculating these things is what saved the episode. If it was a good ep as well, I could have given it 9 or 10/10 as others have. I think those reviewers are putting too much weight on the final scene. Unfortunately, I can't do that - the main story of the episode just wasn't good enough.

Daughters

Warning: Spoilers
Basing an episode on Fornel was ridiculous, but it did feel different and 16 seasons in that is what NCIS needs to do.

Ziva's return is a big deal and hopefully the next season premiere gives us an equally big and memorable story for it.

...and Don't Bring Back the Dead Wife either
lynnbar032023 May 2019
I agree with Figaro32:

"Terrible writing and acting. Don't invite Fornel and his daughter back. And fire whoever wrote this."

and would like to add - Please don't bring back the dead, harpy ex-wife either.

Never Again
doug2go22 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The only reason this episode didn't get a 1 was the last scene I have been waiting years for . I stopped watching NCIS NO because Dwayne Pride was seeing Ghosts all year and it was ridiculous . I have to assume the same misguided show runner , director or writer came over from NCIS No and is trying to screw up the best show on TV - At least for one episode - he or she succeeded - without the last scene this was clearly the worst show of the 2018/19 show series. The story was thin and the acting was worse coupled with a talking Ghost - how do you spell terrible. What worries me now is that Ziva may rejoin NCIS as a Ghost like Gibbs dead wife - if so - it will be the last time I watch NCIS . If she takes her place as an agent of some kind in the real world - this show will be good for another 10 years as #1 - their call. I too have no clue what Gibbs said to Ziva - it was unintelligible and I replayed it 3 times.

Ridiculous!
yohendranbaskaran1 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Seems to be a thing, talking to dead people, first NCIS New Orleans, now here. Less jumping the shark and more digging the garbage for scraps. I'd always been a fan, until today. The rating is for this episode, so it's a fair reflection. As good as the show has been, the absurdity of a cast full of schizophrenics makes the entire season unpalatable. This may be the last time I spend good money and valuable time on the series.

What Happened?
faithless473418 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Okay so Gibbs has "talked" to himself before and never has the writing of those times been as horrible as this. I like that he is talking with Diane i always liked that character, but the getting heard stuff ruined the show.

Next, Narcan is not used in the way they depicted in this show nor does it work in the same way they have depicted it. THAT IS A HORRIBLE thing for this show to do. They have a certain responsibility to the audience. It is not like it is a complicated work/use to explain or write into the show.

Next, you cannot get DNA off a needle from a second person once that needle has been injected.

This season has been the worst written season ever. It is almost like they picked up a few teens on summer break and gave them a type writer. They at least did one thing right and brought Ziva back. So there is hope.
