Fairly informative and entertaining look at the Ritz London

"Inside the Ritz Hotel" (a/k/a "Inside the Ritz Hotel London"; 2019 release from the UK) is a documentary about the (in) famous Ritz Hotel in London. As the documentary opens, we get a Ritz London 101 lesson: built in 1906, 136 rooms, and only minutes away from Buckingham Palace. Several big names like Anna Wintour (Editor-In-Chief of Vogue) and Mo Salah (footballer at Liverpool) comment on why they like the Ritz as much as they do. But the real star turns out to be John Williams, who has led the 60+ kitchen team for decades and is about to publish a coffee table book called "The Ritz London: The Cookbook".

Couple of comments: this is a fairly informative and enjoyable look at the Ritz London, sort of in the same way that the erstwhile tv series "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" was. I personally wouldn't care for actually staying at the Ritz (anywhere, not just London), as it is way too stiff for my upper lip, if you know what I mean. But I have to give the Ritz London proper due, in particular as it relates to John Williams and his kitchen team. These guys are amazing. The other thing that is striking is that so many of the Ritz staff have worked there for years and years, some even decades. That tells me that the Ritz treats its staff well, and rightly so. And how does the Ritz plan to stay relevant for years to come? Just watch...

"Inside the Ritz Hotel" premiered in the UK in 2019. The IMDb listing of this shows it as being 4 episodes of 30 min. Each. That is not the format that I watched recently on PBS, which showed it as 2 episodes of about 45 min. Each. Not sure why the US format is different from the original UK format. In any event, if you have any interest in the history (and future) of what life is like in a hotel like the Ritz (in this particular case, the Ritz London), I'd readily suggest you check this out, and draw your own conclusion.
