Mummy, Mummy, Who's Got The Mummy?

Warning: Spoilers
Like the Gypsy Caper, this one has an interesting multi-cultural crossover, but with a notable exception.

The Chans are now in Egypt, viewing the tomb of the Egyptian king.

Suddenly we get a local who says he does not agree with the white man being present in such an honorable and holy place.

First thing I thought of was Chan's 'whiteness'.

Granted, the sheik was talking to Professor Redgrave and his assistant, Pendrake, but I wondered about the presence of these Asians in the temple? In the end, the sarcophagus is stolen. Who did it? Once again, kids are peculiarly chased by masked menaces.

This time, Anne, Susie, Jay and Tom are pursued by a mummy, of course.

No doubt, this hearkens back to the classic Scooby Doo mummy cartoon (without a doubt one of the biggest to scare me as a child).

So this four loses the mummy, but then the next scene we see, the mummy (or is it A mummy?) is now chasing the youngest kids, Flip, Scooter, Mimi and Nancy.

I guess any Chan is as good as another.

And once again, we get the revelation, but no explanation as to who this mystery threat may have been.

Nine times out of ten, we will see some kids running from a monster, then see the suspect talking to Chan, thereby Chan gives the suspect an alibi at being the monster.

Once again, I can't help but wonder about editing in these cartoons.

As I said in another post, all Cartoon Network had to to do when they aired these and I recorded them was edit out the songs, which they don't do.

Many of the cartoons have the kids playing the songs separate from the adventure.

In fact, Fat Lady Caper is the only one that has the kids running to the music, like Scooby and Josie.

so while I don't think the cartoons were edited, I can't help but notice how awkwardly put together they are.

And by comparison to another cartoon of this time, such as Funky Phantom, it doesn't connect anywhere near as badly.

Maybe it was from having to focus on all those kids.
