While the storyline is interesting, too much seriousness and lengthy narrative made the movie little boring and tests your patience. A cut of 15 mins runtime could really have great impact overall.

Movie was fantastic from venu udugula. Story and direction ubsalutly well!! But low screenplay, appreciated to your knowledge and your intention. Dop really beautiful with music and well taken. Iam in love with Vennala beacuse Sai pallavi made it and she has gave soul to that character. Rana the man who binhind this classic as Ravanna, take selute man. And other artists are also well !!
Comes to story; we the people from rural can understand what cultures in a village but most others don't interested on raw and realistic. First off is really good from my point of view classic. Second of is also good but need some magic, climax is masterpiece.
If venu gives the reason bihing why people choose revolution in more attractive way it's Master peace.
Personally I loved it!!

Yes the cast is good. Yes there should have been more of Rana. Yes the closure imagery
is as poetic as the party leader's writing. I liked the film right up to the tragic ending. The moral of this story: do not fall in love with someone who despises love and regards it as a weakness. For he is fully capable of believing lies about you and murdering you in a beautiful setting and then being all broken-hearted when he finds out you were real. I call BS on him and the whole "party". That poor deluded woman. He should have gone to prison.
virata parvam..vennela story

Virata Parvam - Telugu movie
When Venu Udugula wanted to make a story on naxal insurgency during 1990s, he had on hand rich revolutionary literature, and folklore of north Telangana (in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh), and opulent Suresh Productions funding the film. People were caught in the police-naxal cross fire. The director wanted to weave a story of love which was believed to elude the hardcore militants. The girl in question fell in love with a man whom she never saw, but only came to know through his revolutionary poetry. Incidentally this girl was born in a jungle in a jeep on the way to hospital but caught in an immense battle between police and naxals. The scene of the girl's birth is highly melodramatic. She is named Vennela, meaning moonlight.
Vennela's father, a small farmer, pursues oggukatha, a folklore lyrical recitation. Then the girl's love journey starts in pursuing her dream boy, a hardcore naxal, Ravanna (played by Rana Daggubati of Bahubali fame) whom she came across through his poetry book published by revolutionary writers. The director deals with the theme of love in war times against the backdrop of reigning violence. And mix up with finetuned songs and poetry is available. 'There is no place for love' said Ravanna during an encounter with Vennela. But Vennela, an intransigent lover, argues in favour of love and reminds Ravanna of her abandoned and widowed mother, and passes a letter by his mother which purportedly influences hardcore Ravanna.
The director though corroborates the naxals' agenda of organising people in villages, and to some extent projects the police brutality and their implementation of encounter killings (aided and abetted by the state). On the other hand the naxals are burdened with tackling the brutal police, and get involved in settlement of disputes in villages - Robinhood style. Police are busy in covert operations planting the people in naxal camps and hideouts in jungles. The naxals are equally merciless with espionage informers. The naxals relegated the agenda of mass movements and got involved in pitched battles. There is a scene of Ravanna meeting his mother with the aid of Vennela, and Ravanna recites a poem of Siva Sagar passing it as his own. "Mother! I am grateful to you for revolutionary heritage." The director pretty well knows these things get past unnoticed as most people have stopped reading, and only watch run-of-the-mill movies and other stuff dished out on TV and media. Even the platonic love of Vennela was inexorably derived from 'Maidanam' of Chalam, a liberal in Telugu literature of yester years. (Though the director projects it as love of Meera pursuing the mystical Krishna.) Yet the film is worth watching inasmuch as it is a departure from inessential blockbusters. To some extent it helps one pursue the history of naxalism in recent past.

Great attempt but plot has some glaring flaws
valyriansteel-683494 July 2022
Firstly the production values are top notch! Commendable performances from Sai Pallavi and Rana. But the plot doesn't have a strong point to prove. Bad misunderstanding and lack of depth in character. Anyway, a story of this sort had to be told.
Beautiful and poetic

It's not a regular masala film, It has a unique storyline, and I really enjoyed the movie. Beautiful cinematography. Great acting by all the actors. I know there is no comedy but every movie need not have comedy in it, watch it you will enjoy the love story.

Warning: Spoilers
The movie was damn slow , too slow to being with. It does not show why Rana Dagubatti became a naxal in the first place rather it focused on a love story between a commoner and a Naxalite. The Telugu film industry is always fixated on a topic the recent one being Naxalism . First it was Jalsa which showed Pawan Kalyan as former Naxalite who was reformed and the latest one being Acharya now this Virata Parvam. The girl after reading a few poems and articles on the injustice to the society falls in love with the writer. The story is wafer thin . Definitely not worth 8 out of 10. These ratings are being manipulated it seems as others also pointed out earlier. Highly manipulative ratings of IMDb. After watching the entire movie on Netflix, I did not feel like i am watching a 8 movie. It's good but definitely not worth getting an 8 out of 10 may be a 6.5 or 7. The hero after getting suspicious on Sai pallavi shoots her , how mundane. If he loved her, how could he shoot her?? Is this the story or another typical cliche seen in regular commerical movies. Then later on other comrades realise their mistake and it's too late . Ufff!!!!
Senseless Love story

One of the biggest low of Telugu film Industry. A completely outdated communist plot which is forgotten and not relevant in Telugu states. Sai pallavi played and looked almost similar in all of her movies, she is highly overrated. Rana Daggubati has no expressions at all and only suited to larger than life narratives like Bahubali.
Excellent

Bold Film and Poem
polanki1117 June 2022
This movie is truly one of a kind. Yes it's not perfect and there could've been more Rana, but this was a film that plays like a poem. Not everyone will like it and that's okay. It took courage by the filmmaker to present communism in a positive light and to showcase a hard-hitting love story. How far are you willing to go for love and will it be worth it? Or was it the journey that mattered the most?
Sai Pallavi is the real STAR
best-review17 June 2022
The story of this film is commendable, drawing inspiration from real-life incidents.
The screenplay remains honest in its portrayal, although it may not be entirely convincing.
Certain dialogues in the film come across as forced, lacking natural flow.
The performances delivered by the cast are truly exceptional.
Sai Pallavi shines brightly in her role, showcasing her remarkable talent. Additionally, Sai Chand, Nandita Das, Eshwari Rao, Zarina Wahab, and Priyamani deliver extraordinary performances. Rana, Naveen Chandra, and Nivetha also leave a positive impression.
The music, while not exceptional, manages to maintain the appropriate mood throughout the film.
However, the production values could have been elevated to a higher standard.
The director and Director of Photography put forth their best efforts, resulting in a notable execution of the film.
If you are seeking a standout performance, I recommend watching this film for Sai Pallavi. Personally, I would opt for an OTT platform to enjoy it.

Virata Paravam is not your typical love story, it is a story of Love. The kind of love that turns your world upside down, demands selflessness, strips you off everything that you can possibly give, still you can't help but love more even when there is no hope.
When this kind of love hits an expectional girl who is brave enough to go to the depths that only love can take you and stand still against all the odds, it makes once in a lifetime love story.
When that story is put together by an exceptional writer director, talented technicians, soul touching music and supremely talented dedicated actors who are here to serve the craft, it makes once in a life time movie.
Aside from the fact that Virata Parvam is a spectacularly made movie with captivating performances, it is first and foremost an honest attempt at story telling by everyone involved. This film has a piece of my heart forever and if you are someone who is optimistic enough to believe in love or even a movie lover who can appreciate a well made film, do not miss this.

3. Over action of" Lal salam gang" they are not as cottonseed as they are potrayed.
4. Hope like these kind of movies are not entertained by audience anymore.
5. A foolish girl who is brainwashed from childhood cant be expected more form the charecter.

Everyone know the plot line already so I am not going to write about that. Kudos to the director for picking this hidden gem of a story. Excellent work!
Epic love story presented as a gripping thriller. Back ground music is amazing and elevated the scenes perfectly.

Why this fascination for Naxalism !!!!
rajdxbhyd12 July 2022
Off late Telugu film makers seem to be glorifying Naxalism (films like Acharya). What is wrong with these people who are trying to make heroes of these ruthless anti Nationals. You should condemn Communists - they are a failed concept.
