At Long Last

It is refreshing to watch a car/enginnering program that does not start with, and continue throughout, talking about how skint (no money) they owner/star is. How the business is at risk if they don't get "whatever" done.

I tune in to see the craft, the skill, the information. I dont give a crap about the fictional debt problems, personal issue etc of the cast. I want to see soup to nuts build, referb, restoration etc.

There is a good mix of build inforamtion, issues to overcome, solutions and background infroamtion. Ant is a competent and engaging presenter with skills and knowlewdge built over many years.

Please more of this and less of the personal drama of the people.

really enjoyed watching and constantly go back and review for key information in my own projects.

Love cars, watch the show.

Amazing build, but not really in 12 weeks.
hansefde15 April 2020
Ant demonstrates his many skills in building an amazing replica of the Alfa 158 single seater. It's great to see how he buys some old parts and is able to turn them into a working car. The step by step how to is not only entertaining to watch but for any DIY car enthusiast very educational and a must watch. One criticism is that he acts as if he suddenly comes up with the idea of building this car because he has a 12 weeks gap in his schedule. This is BS. There must have been years of planning and preparing. The ingenious setup of the drivetrain, the drawings, the buck in England, all special parts, all other parts, it is impossible to get this all sorted within that 12 weeks period. Yes the build was in 12 weeks, but everyting else was sorted prior to that. An other criticism is that more than 40% of the build is not in the documentary, no doubt to keep it short, fast and have time to put a bit of human interest in it. But now I still don't know how he sorted the steering mechanism, did the edges on the glassfibre parts and how he did the upholstry.

Disappointing
chrischapman-4754522 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Unfortunately there is too much philosophising, repetition, explaining the obvious, etc, etc - it reminds me too much of all that went wrong with Wheeler Dealers. Some humour in banter with the crew but overall it is a missed opportunity.

A Successful Real World Mechanic Telling His Own Story - Not An 'Actor' In Sight
robconline16 January 2022
Thank god the arrogant obnoxious fat-boy is hiding in the UK and Ant is free to tell his own story in his own words. Ant is 'NOT AN ACTOR' he is a credible car mechanic who can walk his talk and he tells his story in his own words and in his own way. Sure theres a little bit of over acting but this is HIS STORY and its refreshing to not have to FFW through the normal mind numbing fake drama 25% fill. I watch these shows for the engineering and its great to hear Ant walk us through his crudely scripted plans, ideas and problem solving. Its refreshingly real. If you want polish and petty BS drama go watch something else thats been dumbed down for you. This is a hell of a lot more real than most reality TV ever made. More of this PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

Thank you for leaving Wheeler Dealers

About this show... I guess every mechanic with this budget and resources could build this (kind of ) car. But this show is merely about the car and mostly about the (full of himself) master mechanic. Thank God he left Wheeler Dealers so I can enjoy Elvis in the new series! I can understand Ant is a good mechanic but being in the highlights is his real talent (extreeeeemely boring). He took over the show(ing off) and bored us with his highest skills regarding what he was doing. I really wish him the best but please let the acting for someone else. Also, the dream car... hahaha, that is another (bad) story.

This Ant 🐜 fella go home do your mobile mechanics in your own garage with out a film crew, god your annoying it's like trying to teach some how to butter a slice of bread, yes very very boring. In fact so boring I painted my wall and watched it dry, no wait that was way more exiting. Go home loser.

Great idea but Anstead makes you turn off
apmalin-8119018 September 2021
Good idea and ideal opportunity to open up car engineering to a wider audience, but get rid of Anstead, his embarrassing over acting infront of the camera makes you cringe.

Are we back in the 1980s?
rjcampion12 August 2021
Painful to watch, it's like the production company have gone back to the 1980s how the hell are we supposed to take this seriously? This series and wheeler dealers Try so hard to be up there with Top gear and the grand tour, but always fail miserably.

Mike Brewer is an absolute knob and Ant Anstead tries his best..so 😥

Self Serving Egofest

The mechanics of it is interesting to me. Unfortunately, it is marred by repetitious commentary, Ant muggin for the camera and irritating personal insights. It is a 12 episode ego fest. Those of us who love to work on cars don't care about his discussion with his wife over the single seater. We don't care about what tea he likes etc. It just seems like he or someone said this guy is so interesting we'll do a lot of deep moment stuff. So glad he left Wheeler Dealers- he is just one of those guys that thinks he is engrossing but he isn't. Sorry just too Hollywood. The absolute reason I do what I do? Spare me man.
