Spraypainting the Couch?
richard.fuller114 January 2020
Warning: Spoilers
When was this done? It looks absolutely garish. Lucy "spray paints" an off-white couch into a dark brown and the results are typically disastrous, but watching it fifty years later, I can't help but wonder what successful results would have been? As for the car backing out of the garage into the house, it seems the garage must have been separate from the house in the opposite direction and not attached in any way.

And yes, this episode has Lucy and Viv cranking the car in the garage to sleep, which of course would be deadly.

Maybe it was to hearken back to the redesigning episodes of I Love Lucy, when the Mertzes apartment is painted and feathered, or wallpapered into stripes.

Definitely helped being in all that dayglo color.

Elaborate Sight Gag Does Not a Great Episode Make
kgraovac25 November 2023
Lucy purposely makes the house look shabby so Mr. Mooney will advance her some money for upgrades. When she starts her redecorating project, things go from bad to worse.

So many of the Season 2 episodes suffer from lack of humor or logic and seem to be written in a way to just have some big stunt or piece of physical comedy carry the whole episode. It doesn't work when the dialog is lukewarm.

The gag of Lucy trying to con Mooney into getting what she wants by asking for way more to start with is overused here. The funniest part of the episode is when Viv hits the deck as the paint sprayer is going haywire.
