This is left-wing propaganda posing as a travelogue. You will see a variety of locomotives, some of which are unique to Africa such as their double-articulated steam locomotives. You'll see as many red stars and hammers and sickles as you will trains. The host is more interested in social commentary from a leftist position, and tosses some train footage in here and there. I think he'd be happier doing a train trip across Cuba. Since this was about trains, it would have been nice if the host mentioned the A.N.C. derailing trains. If you do watch, turn the sound off, and least you'll be spared the host's hand-wringing, inability to forgive himself. The rest of the series is much better and truly for rail fans.
